Now that hibernation is over and the sun has threatened to shine it's that time :D

One of my first jobs is to spruce up the interior which looks a bit sad & bare and I have read with interest Dave's account of the gel-backed carpet installation. Because I'd really like to make it as neat and tidy as possible with the fewest number of joins (like none), I'm planning to completely follow the same methodology as the pictures of Dave's interior look pretty good.

One of the things I can't figure out is how the edges have been finished off on the side panels... Any advice Dave or anyone?

At the moment, mine are just "cut" edges of carpet

However
I`ll be removing the carpet after IBW (another project underway) and trying to add an edge with U-Channel rubber that I picked up at Stoneleigh

Pics to follow in a few weeks or so.

Have you seen the moulded carpets that TJ Kustoms in the US do? Very nice!

They look sexy, pedal mat is for left ook though. I bought carpets from rugs for bugs, may aswell got doormats from wilko, they would have fitted better! I used house carpet and did myself. One each side front to back and a tunnel one. Take your seats out, roughly cut each piece, fit best you can. Then use as a template to cut final piece allowing for your balls ups with the first. Be carefull cutting the gearshift hole cause when it wrap over the tunnel the hole gets bigger, bazzar ! Tunnel carpet will tuck into floor carpet to hold in place. If it fits well it won't move. I lightly waxoiled the floor underneath incase the carpet rubbed the floor paint. Hows that, ask me about anything about bbllyqxzrop at the back that goes bbrrmm sorry don't know.

I wish I had now... We were there but spent more time playing on the Segways and checking out the new MX5 for Ilona than admiring your red metal flake machine... Tell me more about your carpets and maybe I can toddle over and take a look when you're free?

I made templates and sent them to Rugs for Bugs and they fit just as they should.  I've had them for about 7 years now and have just ordered another set.

Exactly what i was gunna do when they didn't fit,but the only thing i had around big enough to make templates was carpet. The whole idea was to not have the hastle, with pics and sizes i gave him (being a trades person)he said spot on,HA. So after doing templates WOW i have now done it anyway. So sent them back.
