Don`t forget to ask the previous owner if they have any old photos etc that can help to prove it has been a Buggy for many years, as if there ever does come a time to argue with DVLA, if you can show a "provenance" and history of it being a Buggy, then they will be forced to take this into account should the problem ever arise.

Yes just done the same and got the same awnser dvla no record. Spoke today he told me it was converted back in the 80s and was red then got a make over in the 90s to gold he's owned it all the time as him and is dad converted it from a one owner beetle. Also that engine and vin all match v5. After looking a little hard found this.[/

You may find entering vw on the dvla site is the problem, there used to be a drop down list of manufacturers and another box for alternative names where you could type in beach buggy.

If you put the make dowm as 'Vw beach buggy' along with your reg number into the DVLA site your details come up. It's down as a Vw beach buggy, 1973, red, 1300cc.

So that means I sould be ok then .I'll just send it off then when I get it bk if I've not all ready changed the colour be for its MOT I'll send it back to change it to gold cheers guys👊🏼

Ye does say saloon on it😱😱but all so clear as day states it's a vw beach buggy so what do you guys think? What more do they want In my eyes It's on there( vw beach buggy ) can't get much cleaner than that?

No it's got wellers on it buddy and standed front.The guy and is dad turned it in to a buggy back in the 80's His parents owned a dealship and it was a car registered to them and was still registered to them when I bought it think he said I'm the 3rd or 4th owner. But I must admit I crapping my pant after driving 4 hours to pick it up and it said saloon after he'd said it was down as a buggy which it was just not were I expected. I was walking away but father-in-law talked me around as he was a mechanic back in the day and as own loads of motor from barn finds to classic's plus didn't fancy the awkward ride home empty handed lol
