HI,

I'm in the process of building an FF LWB and was wondering about the engine cage that surrounds the engine and if it is a requirement for an MOT or not?
I've seen a few of them for sale without this but i can't find any info on it.

Any help will be very much appreciated.

Engine Cage not required, but I think its heavily frowned upon somewhere if your engine is exposed and you do not have a belt guard fitted, or for something to prevent arms / fingers from getting too close. For that purpose, a rear cage would suffice if your belts are exposed.

I was planning on covering the belt anyway. I was more curious about the hot exhausts but the FF has quite a big bum so the majority of engine parts hide under the shell.
No cage helps the wallet.

I've got a LWB with no cage.  And never had any issues.  Do have the fan guard as the other said well worth one of those.

The only issue I ever had with not having a cage was when someone rear ended me at low speed.  Fortunately they hit the exhaust and just broke the join by bending it.  Fixed that by tying the exhaust to a lamp post and rocking the buggy forwards.
