Hi,
It appears that I'm going to have to pay 'road tax' on the buggy i build.
I'm intending to fit a 1776, so does anyone have the same or know how much the tax is likely to be?
I have the DVLA's rates sheet in front of me and it's not straight forward tbh.
It's all on CO2 emissions (g/km)... anyone know what theirs are like?  :-\
Sorry for all the silly questions... a guys got to start somewhere though! :)

Could be wrong here, but I also think it depends on the age of your engine - in which case it should be exempt from emmissions due to its age, with only the smoke test being applicable - age related plate is also going to be key here

In which case, the tax band for "old cars of a certain cc" would apply

And then again, I could be talking twoddle  :-\

I think there's a catch here... DVLA are saying that the vehicle is effectively being registered as a brand new car and so the engine would have to fit into the 'new' levels of emissions :( But it IS having an age related plate... so i don't know if that's just for looks or if it does tie the registration back to the age of the vehicle somehow.  :-\
I think I'm going to have to try ring this Donna character at DVLA to find out WTF has gone on  ::)

It is registered as new but has not got type approval as you built it hence the IVA so you will be on classic tax pre 2002 over the 1600cc so paying £230 as I do on a 1986 q plated 2000cc motor.
