Allan, all being well, hopefully tomorrow.....

Fuel fittings for the carbs have been the pain....they hold a solid pipe in, just like a brake pipe and the unions holding them into the master cylinder.

Need to find somewhere that can flare 1/4" pipe....

Fuel pipes are normally a JIC 37° style flare not a standard 45° AN style brake fitting.

Do not mix these as even if they seal the chance of fracture at the flare is high.

I have the tool if they are 37°.  I'll need to check it has 1/4 on the die though.

Well, it runs, sort of.

Finally got the fuel lines double flared and the unions had arrived. Got over to Robs and we spent a while fitting the carbs, connecting up the fuel system, priming and checking for leaks, retightening unions etc until we were read for the big moment...

Fired it up and it ran. Popped and banged and didn't want to rev at all, but it ran. And holy shoot, are those cannons loud.....

Subsequently managed to get it running well at a fast idle but not much above this would induce the spluttering again.....

Bit stumped on this one right now, though have a couple of things to check....

Mixed emotions really. So pleased weve managed to coax an engine in such a state back to life. Bit annoyed it didn't run as well as it deserved to after all the work Rob has put in....

Video to follow

well it ran so good news the other faults will be carbs limiting the fuel or the timing not advancing.

Well, the star that is Farmer Rob got it sorted in the end.

Seems it was a poor connection on the points plate. Fixed and running like a champ Rob informs me!!!

Hopefully go over tomorrow night and get a video or two of it in action....

Massive, massive thanks to Farmer Rob, he's been brilliant.

Mid June Shaggy. Won't have it run in before the IBW then it goes off to have its hood made.

Hopefully its first guest appearance at the MBC under Corvair power in July, exactly a year after the green machine made its first ever appearance!!!
