Twin port motor you could fit a late 1600 68mm carb manifold to let the air in more then a suitably jetted carb possibly a twin choke as  the standard manifolds are quite restrictive.

the go faster carb from the 70's was a nikki twin choke available to fit 1300 to 1500cc with a manifold adaptor.

you could go for twin carbs of some sort even better as they have no long manifold.
