Would like to purchase a dipstick for a type 4 engine & can't find any listed with all the aftermarket websites. :(
I believe there are a couple of different types available  depending on what vehicle the engine was in originally, mine needs to be the one that passes through the rear mounted fan casing and should be about 290mm long.
If anyone has one and doesn't  want to sell, please could you take a photo with some accurate dimensions from the shoulder to the high / low marks.

Right the two types I know! one goes through the fan casting, then has a small rubber pipe linking that to the engine casing! I might have one of these hiding somewhere. The other type I know has a metal pipe about 10ins long which has a 90 degree bend in it, which goes in the top of the engine casing and then straight down to the bottom of the engine. I have one of these but need it, they are like gold dust but can measure it for you.

I have the type that goes straight down from the top of the engine with no bends which is really rare.
I phone BBT in belguim and they found me a second hand one for £30 i wouldn't have found one otherwise. http://www.bbt4vw.com/

you could also try mega bug the are a good source of secondhand parts http://www.megabug.co.uk

If you can find your one that goes through the fan casing Rob, let me know how much you want for it.
I'm also looking for a timing degree marker for round the fan too if you have one you'd like to sell.

Cheers

Sorry mate but I can not find it!. I think Shaggy has the type of dip stick you are looking for in his. Perhaps you can send him a message, I'm sure he would measure his for you,
