Been swoping shinny bits this weekend to the other engine... My old engine I think may have had some of the tin incorrectly fitted but just want to check.. The tin that the vent from the oil cooler goes through...should that fit lipped over the rear of the case..... If this makes sence it would be in a groove when the engine and the gear box come together. Cheers

The dog house tin when fitted to a beetle  or a bus would  normally go through a rectangle hole in a vertical section of tin that goes from number I to number 3 cylinder. That keeps the hot and cool sections apart.

On the buggy it's not going to be an issue as it's all open to air anyway.

If you can't fix it with a hammer it's not broken!!!

so it was the vertical tin I was thinking about.... So don't I need the dog house or the vertical?.. I haven't looked that close to others in the past and it was on but not in the gap between the engine and the gearbox.... I try to keep the cooling standard ish as I work on the VW know best idea.... Not going to do anything this week as working away in the Netherlands.... But want to try and put things back together when I get home at the end of the week....so any advise welcome

If you have a standard TP fan shroud, you do not need to add the two bits of tin that bolt on around the oil cooler outlet, on a beach buggy
