Hi All,
So, the groovy blue machine in my back garden means I'm officially a buggyist right? After 20 years I've finally got myself another VW (my first car was a yellow 1300 beetle that had heater channels made from chickenwire and cardboard) and this time it's a 1962 SWB Mk1 GP (probably). Oh yeah, its also been unused for the last 17 years apparently. Essentially it seems very sound just not very well put together and with some hysterical bodges. There is wiring but it's all red and not attached to anything.  It has 8 inch banded steels all round and the front tyres are bigger than the rears. Also it  looks like someone actually chewed through the dashboard to "mount" the completely random selection of non-functioning switchgear..... I don't even know what the engine is like as I haven't had it running yet so that's something to look forward to...
As you can imagine I've got a parts list as long as a long thing and many, many questions, so I will definately be reaching out to everyone on here for advice and moral support...
I'll chuck a couple of photo's up at the weekend to give you all a good laugh...
Cheers,
Andy D
It's an easy fix mate, should only take a weekend to get it on the road....

welcome Andy, the mad house (as it is fondly known) is a great place.

I remember picking mine up several years ago and finding wiring coming from all sorts of places and going in strange direction and attached to all sorts of bolts and things... I think it can be called a feature of the buggy build.

having rewired mine (amongst other things) the wiring still goes in strange places and I still have spare wires...!!  ;D ;D ;D

Enjoy and don't be afraid to share.  :D :D 8) 8)
