Hi gang ;-)up

I am looking at getting some stainless wiper arms and 10" blades for the yellow buggy. When I got the ones for mine I'm 80% sure they were classic mini ones with adapters for the spindles.

If the above is correct the arms and blades are not a problem to source but for the life of me I can't remember where I got the spindle adapters from. Can't find them on CBS.

Any help is gratefully appreciated.

Cheers

Try Land Rover specialists too, older ones had them as standard and many have a box full of old ones dead cheap.

Edit...There you go...

I think it looks neater than adapters IMHO ::) But then again i don't think my screen is as small as yours ;D

Fitting the Mini arms to the VW ends isnt a ballache at all. I guess it all depends in the level of finish you want with regards to the effort put in...

My wipers look like this

The trick is to get the mini arms into the VW spindle ends, like this...

Its easy. You drill out the rivets holding the vw arms to the spindles. You need to do the same in the mini arms. You then need to grind the sides of the VW spindle down until its narrow enough to fit inside the Mini arm. You can get some quite nice hardware to bolt it all together. Think these are M3.5 dome nuts with some stainless cap head bolts. Also, the VW spindle mounts are Ali so polish up very nicely.

You need to do some cutting and bending on the mini arms to adjust the length to get them in the right place. Once measured up and correct, drill some more holes and use some more stainless fixings.

I'm really please with how my wipers are. Sit level at the bottom of the screen and look great, plus are stainless so look good. Thanks to Allan as it was him that told me how to do it.

Another take on it!.....  :)

My wiper arms are from a MK2 Ford Escort.

They have a tapered spline as did my VW wiper mounts, however the spline
was a different shape and size.

So I cut a piece of copper tube 6mm long, 8mm diameter with a 6mm diameter bore!

Slipping it onto the VW spline and then offering up the Ford wiper the VW nut I was able
to force the arm onto the copper sleeve and the sleeve then 'formed itself' to match the different splines
as it was wound down.

So far all's been fine for the last twelve years!  ;-)up ;D

Redoing my buggy at the moment, have decided to go for a complete mini wiper setup, motor, spindles, drive, etc
