If you are after inspiration for a roof, always worth consulting Peters site

It's a long time since I've seen one made using a frame as most people just seem to stretch the top over the roll bar, but hood frames were typically just two bent hoops of tube, typically electrical conduit.

A 'traditional' Buggy soft top would have looked like these, and not come into contact or indeed need a roll bar to support it...

or Munster Koach style maybe???

Hunters roof and how it works and my roof

If you are thinking of fitting a roof over a roll bar, there is one VERY important thing to take care of.

The screen must be ROCK solid and never move even 2mm.... There is only one screen available that can do this, the Manx windscreen.

It is incredibly strong and will resist movement, as long as it is attached to a bonnet that has been secured really well. and I mean REALLY well.

Care taken with the bonnet assembly and the Manx windscreen mounting will ensure that a Mohair weight roof won't ever move
and sag, even after twelve years of continuous use...

Mine's got a couple of frames, one small at the back, and then one that comes forward in front of the main roll hoop. Both pivot from the same place.
They've been crafted out of some conduit by the look of it. The hood then has some press stud 'wraps' that go around the frames.
Let me know if you want a pic!
