Just when I thought I'd escaped the vw scene forever..

My son dragged me back in

This is now in our care, any one knows any history about would liove to know

Needs some tlc and a decent wiring harness... Like indicators, lights and a mystery switch we have no idea yet what it does!

No doubt be asking questions and picking brain cells 😊

Hello and welcome.
That's a great looking buggy.
You gotta love a mystery button.   ;D   I'll start a list of potentials.......
1. It fills a hole in the dash and has never been wired in to anything.
2. It will have been wired in. You'll spend an age tracing the wiring to a couple of loose ends because it's for the spotlights which rotted away and were removed 25 years ago.
3. It's to switch the horn fron standard to a musical one.
4. Each time you try it it sends a message to whoever installed it and gives them a laugh, knowing you are stood there scratching your head.

Time will reveal all.  :D

Welcome.

You sound like you have half an inclining what's involved in VW buggys so any hitches will be taken in your stride, and you are smiling by it in the rain so you also understand the weather realities and aren't deterred. Is your son taking the picture under an umbrella ?

The teasing shot shows a fine buggy emerging and this forum will welcome questions of any shape and form.

Do post more photos and details of it and the engine and what your end goal is - just get it running; add X, Y & Z shiny bits or take off the attractive go faster stripe...

Been puzzling over that one on Google maps for a good while now.

Hello and welcome!
