Beetle shell is now off and gone and I'm looking at a rolling chassis that is in overall good condition. I need to repair the ends of the Napoleon's hat and the same at the rear ( not sure what the rear section is called ?)

I will be documenting and going LWB body swap with DVLA will repair sections cause any issues floor pans are new but repair to spine underneath (seam welded ) and a plate on Napoleon's hat I will grind the welds down and try and hide them with seam sealer. Might be tempted to replace the Napoleon's hat as it has a small plate on but looks solid apart from the ends.

Second part is Jacking point, Are these removed and can they be removed before inspection if so?

DVLA just need a few photos, ideally of the donor car showing number plates, one of the bare chassis and a close up of the chassis number and a couple with the body fitted. One of a tape measure from front hub to rear hub showing standard wheelbase would be a good idea too.

Too much information and too many photos and they'll get confused.

I've not known any purely body swaps to have triggered an inspection, you'd be very unlucky if it did (another reason to keep things simple). It's generally just a paperwork exercise on a V627/1 form. Keep the answers 'Standard VW' as far as possible.

I have a pic of the complete car so i will keep it to a minimum as you say, Only thing i haven't got is receipts for getting rid of the old shell as it was parted out to people to make use of on a first come first serve basis

Good news there then another buggy started, jacking points cut off the protruding parts as they do rot away but leave the plates welded to the pans as they will be seen as structural strength.

In the updated regulations from August 2025 it still seems that you need to use the V627/1 form to change V5C description but the form has changed somewhat and they're asking for a valid MOT certificate nowadays which they didn't before.

That's a shame was hoping to get it sorted once the body was bolted down no a massive issue I will just have to be patient !
