What do people use for wiper motors , original beetle or something like the car builder solution set up , any other car makes that are a good fit ?

The lucas system is fully adjustable but needs the correct switch or a relay to suit. Then modern splined arms fit,  motors come with 90,  110 or 120 sweep from memory. Both our buggies have them and modern combination switches on the steering columns so nothing on the dash.

Hi no idea I always wandered around the scrap yards collecting parts from BL, jaguar and land rover vehicles I
just got a column combination switch assy off an LDV minibus for £10 as a spare for one buggy from the scrappy

Car Builder Solutions and many other classic parts firms sell them new including switches or relays.

Go to scrap yard with a tape measure

Treck thro` my build thread.. "Birth of a Buggy".  I detailed the fitting and wiring of a Lucas 2 speed wiper system from car builder solutions using 1 standard relay and a two throw switch. Has worked perfectly for over 5 years. (Important..... make sure the ground connection is spot on as the wiper motor self parks by "shorting to ground". I would not use anything but the ancient Lucas system on a buggy or any other kit car... it is simple to fit and 100% reliable.

It allows the motor to be out of the way of the speedo...... assuming you have a centrally fitted speedo.
As you can see it is currently in a free bits as I'm re-greasing the wheelhouses/worm screw (whatever the term is)

I had a whole world of pain trying to get the self park to work (due to me not understanding how they were supposed to be wired in!!) and ended up just turning the wipers off where I wanted them. It is actually handy when the sun is reflecting off the stainless steel wiper arms to be able to move them a bit.😁

Yes I can understand that. Being of ancient design, and fitted to hundreds of thousands of UK vehicles over the decades, the principle is definately old school. Very simple when you know what wire goes where and the fact a single relay can operate both speeds.
