Speedo question

Could somebody let me know if a 1972 VW beetle VDO MPH speedo will fit a 1967 (cables, fuel gauge etc)

Yes, the speedo will work fine but you'll need an electric tank sender unit from a 68 on car. The tank will need earthing for it to work. The cable is driven from the nearside front hub, if you find the cable is too long try a left hand drive one.

Just a quick point to anyone reading the thread....  Any metal fuel tank on any vehicle should have a good earth to chassis / body / both....  ;)
