As the big tunnel costs money to go through you would expect it to be heated for open top car folks.

And the sun is shining going north and the way home via Le Mans got took  of the motorway and onto B roads thru quiet french villages that i don't think knew what a buggy was. Made it to the Mullsanne straight and tried to find the hotel and the satnav said no so back down the straight and got rerouted yes back down the straight and found it just opposite where we first stopped. Had a good meal and a better sleep. Homeward bound tomorrow.

Next morning on to Florence (there is a story as well)

Well for those who don,t know my engine set up  I run an extended sump under the original and then a CB performance oil filter under that = right no problem but then I also installed adjustable spring plates got the stance i wanted un reftited the engine back onto the freeway flyer right no problem. What i forgot was that the drop in ride height has a knock on effect to how low the bottom sump was,

So pulled into the hotel carpark in Macon drove into the nearest space which was a disabled spot and was told by the wife : you can't park here:  reversed out and into the one closest and the kerb at the back of the slot brought me to a halt  . Pulled forward and the content of the engine poured out onto the tarmac  F*c* F*cK  was all i could say. Go and have dinner and sort out in the morning.
Slept on it and in the morning call the relay people and explain this is fixable  - nice frenchman comes and collects us and the tarmac has swallowed all the oil- explain to him take me to your workshop and lend me a jack- remove bottom sump no problem it's sound but the alloy extending sump is fractured 3/4 the way round , so i remove it from the original sump and put the filter sump back up with a dollop of liquid gasket. refill with the Duckhams i took with me and in two hours we are on our way to Florence

another lesson learnt

So left Le Mans and headed north to find Calais for the train ride home got the 6 o clock and was home by 10ish
Total mileage for the 12 days 3200 miles haven't got the toll charges thru yet and will total fuel costs when they arrive

Excellent home safe and buggy proved it's self after the shaft failure. 300 miles a day is a lot of driving.

Talking about luck  (the other story) driving  on our way to Florence as i mentioned it was chucking it down had to leave the road for another marked as 40kph basically a 180 right hander well the buggy didn't like having all that water under her and decided to go into a spin a proper on 320 degrees bounced off the barrier nearside rear no damage got it under control and carried on. I'm sure my wife did let out a bit of wee & poo but by the time we arrived she was talking to
me

What a trip, that's some milage you clicked up there. More than many buggies clock in a couple of years.
I did a 1451 mile trip last month.....you knocked that out of the park.. It's great when you have the confidence in your ride to contemplate such trips.

Excellent achievement although a suspiciously low number of break downs or glitches. Thanks for sharing some uncensored images.

So just got the toll charges thru just over £200 didn't think that was too bad.

Another thing don't waste yor money on buggy seats put Mazda mx 5 seats in do it right first time 3200 miles convinced me
