Yesterday VWNW sent out an email stating they are changing the way club stands are allocated.   In the past it was first come first served and there was always a bit of a dash to register when then announced registration was open.

This year they want to look at each club and make sure there is a good representation from a wider variety of clubs.  Plus they are looking at things like - does the club regularly attend other events, do they promote the event on social media etc etc

I have responded to their email and hopefully we will still get a club stand this year.   I wanted you to all know this "just in case". I am pleased that I started this post early because it enabled me to say that we are preparing early and to give them the numbers that have already indicated they will be coming.

Soon as I get more info - I will let you know.

Is attending other events a good thing or a negative thing in the eyes of the organisers?

They have not stated.   VWNW are involved in several "coffee" events now and I think these are what they want to see people at - if you follow them on Facebook you will see them https://www.facebook.com/vwshowtattonpark  plus I think "liking" as many of their posts as possible would be a good thing (though I do find this is rather manipulative of them).

I explained to them in my mail that many of our members are from all over the UK and that wet Sunday morning meetings in the winter are not ideal for buggies  :'(

I always have the same issue trying to explain to organisers that we are not a typical small local club, but that we are are a very large National Club where many members will travels hundreds of miles for an event, and in fairness it has to be worth their while to do so - not just to arrive for a coffee for a couple of hours and go home before lunch.

No update as yet on the club stand.

I was looking at the VWNW web site and noticed that the show car entries are now open.   https://www.tattonparkvwshow.com/  or https://vwnw.wufoo.com/forms/show-car-application-2022

Sorry if I am late informing people about this but it appears I no longer get emails from them about show cars as they have me down and a Club stand contact.   You will also notice they have changed some of the rules around show cars ie they want you in before 9am and can not leave until 5pm.   I assume this will be the same for the club stands as well.

This has created a bit of a dilemma and I have messaged VWNW ie we dont know if they will allocate us a club stand and dont want to miss being at the event.  So should we book in as show cars?   I assume VWNW do not want the additional admin of switching people from show cars to club plots.  So, for now I am holding off booking in as a show car and will wait for their response.

Soon as I get an update I will let you all know.

Update from VWNW

"I've stalled a bit on the club booking process because this time I want to make it applications not bookings. What this means for other clubs is that they will make an application and we will decide on the clubs that we want to accept rather than just accepting the first ones that get their finger out and apply. I don't want it to be fastest finger anymore haha. I'm telling myself I will have this sorted out by the end of the weekend lol. But this isn't relevant for you of course, you have your display already agreed for the rest of your life 😁. "

We love VWNW !!!!!!!

" Theme this year
I am going all out on the Comic-Con aspect which you will be part of. I've booked a bumblebee transformer, and ecto-1 the the ghostbuster car. Both of which will be situated close by to your beach buggy display.  We have decided that your display will be adjacent to the track rather than set back. If that makes sense? and if it doesn't I'll just show you on the day haha. Essentially it means you will be easier to find,  more prominent for the public, the biggest question we get asked after where the toilets are, is where to get a sticker from lol"

So looks like we are on on  :)  I will wait a few days before I respond with numbers so if there are any more please let me know ....

The theme of VWNW this year is Comicon.  I was speaking to Andy (Tucker) about this  and thought his sons 80 Year old Jeep would look great as part of our stand.  He can even fit a gun on it  :)  So adding Rory to the list
