Hi,

I've had my buggy since 2003 and very sorry to say that it has spent all it's life since 2004 under a cover on the drive and slower dying!

I however now have the opportunity to put that right but don't have the time or space to attempt it myself. Therefore I am looking for any recommendations for restorers in the North West, preferably in or close to Wirral.

I'm not really looking for an all out show job as I don't have a garage and live next to the beach, but rather just  want to get it back on the road and looking healthy.

Does anyone know or have any suggestions as me my searches are not really turning up very much.

If you ask Derek at Discount Audi VW, formerly Beetlemania in Carr Lane Hoylake he should be able to point you in the right direction.

You could also ask Neil at Uplands Service Station in Upton, great guy and a total VW nut. On second thoughts ask him first if that makes sense.

I'm Wirral born and bred but moved 6 years ago do am a little out of the loop now. Which buggy is it, would I remember it?

Is it a red GP by any chance? Last time I saw that it was under a tarp by the seaside.

The buggy is a RAT with the front wings cut away. I believe it was one of the first as I have seen pictures of it in the old adverts and in a dune buggy book.

You may have seen it under a tarp yes.

I do remember seeing that buggy driving through Liverpool a long time ago, near the Birkenhead tunnel entrance. It's not the one I remember under the tarp though, that was right on the sea  front at Moels.

Could well have been. I used to live down by Liverpool Marina.

It was on Hunter St by John Moore's building. I think it backfired
