Have seen a 1641 with twin solex 40 carbs for sale on a web site but don't know if it will fit my fab rat buggy, my question is what is the length of the twin port plus carbs, and the smallest of air filter I can purchase.

Hi, I run train Kadron. Just checked mine. Vertical measurement from the bottom flange of the manifold to the top of the carb' is 11". There are short/ long manifolds available.
I too have a clearance issue. I've Ramair sponge filters fitted , these are 3 1/4" long, so 14 1/4 " overall.

Thanks Paul for your help but after looking at the space and not wanting to cut the body to make this engine fit I will have to pass on this one and wait for the next offer of a 1641 to come along, probably look for a single carb option.

Not sure you will. Perhaps someone will come along with a Manta ray and a similar set up.
