Normally, I'm all for refurbishing parts and getting rare original bits back in serviceable condition.  But when it comes to your fuel tank, just buy new.  They aren't expensive and you know it's not full of rust or potential pin holes.

If you need to get the filler moved, then your local radiator repair place will be able to do the welding and pressure test it

I have one from a '69 1300, nowhere near Hastings tho'..........

The tank is in good condition, it is off a standard beetle, can get a picture if you want?
