Just thought i'd say hi.

I'm new to this site, but have been around aircooled VW's since i was 17 (about 30 years now). I've owned and built all sorts from cal lookers to Baja's and even a one off beetle pickup before moving on to vans and splitties etc but not built anything for a while due to other demands in life :)

Not built anything myself for a while due to helping my brother with his 59 beetle rebuild and a few other demands in life :) I'm now musing over building a buggy or finding one that needs completing / rebuilding and came across this site which is packed full of info. It'll need to be a SWB and be low and lound and thats about as far as I've decided.

However, first off i need somewhere to build it, so if anyone knows of a small garage / lockup / barn anywhere in the south Leicestershire / north Warwickshire area thats cheap to rent I'd be very grateful if you could let me know.

Hello mate and welcome to the site.
Dont be put off if its a bit quiet on here for a few days as many of us are off to Germany tonight, most of those going are on the road to Hull or Harwich, I am in Ipswich so dont need to leave just yet.

Worth updating your profile with a rough location, I know its in your post but if you ask for help then we will all see where you are.

There are quite a few round your way, have a look at the members map, many are on there, and look out for local gatherings, that will give you a chance to see a few buggys and get some ideas.

The beauty of the buggy world is there are no 2 the same

Hi and welcome to the site....

Might be a bit quiet here for a few days as many of the main players have gone off to Germany in their buggies today

Anyway, firstly you are in a good area for any help - the midlands area is busy with the buggies and lots of good advice around there. That said, if you are used to the air cooled scene, you will know what you are doing anyway!

Of course the big old question is whether to buy or build....? Its a tricky one, but I think I'm a typical example, bought mine and ended up re-building it all anyway! Being SWB remember the V5c is key and if you were to start from scratch, doing it to IVA standards would be a very good idea. (Though there are lots of alternative options which I can't possibly say on here!)

Good luck with finding the garage/barn!  ;-)up  And feel free to ask any buggy specific questions you may have.

Hi 59Mango

Welcome to the site and the quest to find a buggy.

Have a look at the members buggy's in on this sites picture gallery to get an idea of what style of buggy you want to plumb for.

You being in in the south Leicestershire / north Warwickshire area makes us neighbours Bud! ;-)up
