I've got an air pump for my air bed that has a cigarette lighter plug on it. I don't really want to fit a cigarette lighter socket to the buggy but I do have a dual USB socket (2amp/1amp). Is it possible to chop up a USB lead and splice the plug on to the pump? If so, which wires do I use within the USB? Anyone know please.

USB is 5V - the adaptor will have a small transformer inside  ;)

Thing is Dave, I've already fitted a USB double socket. Think I've got a ciggy lighter socket in the garage I can use. Would have been neater to get a set, I admit. Might get one later but for IBW I'll make do with what I've got - don't fancy blowing up a double airbed manually!

If this if for IBW I've got a cigarette lighter socket and I'm sure others do if you don't get chance

Thank you, very kind :) - yes it is for IBW.

I've found the one lurking at the back of my garage. Made a bracket and painted it. Will fit it tomorrow and hopefully it will work. Looped it off the USB socket. Fuse and wires will cope with both too :)

Cheat! and have a temporary solution.

Maplin should have something similar on short notice. From then on its just any old standard USB ciggy charger. 2 amps or output on the USB more for a good quick charge.
