Hi

I bought this a couple of years ago to put in a sandrail. However I have never done anything with Never heard it run but believe it is a sound engine.

£350 to buy, £400 if you want to haggle.

Beat me to it Rob,

I was also going to point out it looked like a CJ and not a CU  ;-)up

I stand to be corrected on this - but out of interest, did they ever make a CU for the Type4 as from researching mine, the CU engine had the dipstick on the top of the fan housing and not through the middle of it, and the air breather box at the top was integrated into the block, not separate. CU engine was Type 25 and all the bits I have just mentioned were indeed Type 4 as shown (hence CJ and not CU)

But then again, I could be talking rubbish   :-\

VW's coding of things has always left a lot of people confused  ;D But on the whole these engines are known as type 4 or 914 engines. However the CJ engine was basically for the 2.0L bay and the later CU engine was used for the T25. The CJ engine had oval exhaust ports and solid lifters, the CU engine had square ports and Hydraulic lifters. The fan shrouds and tin wear are slightly different as well but the claimed HP is the same at 70.

Actually I don't think they put a 2,0L engine in a VW type 4  ;D

The problem with VW is the codes they did a type 4 estate  the 412LE a fuel injected 2 Litre as for the type 4 vans I have no idea.
