Hi kJD

What's the tank like

Needs to be for standard 1300 beetle
Not 1302/3

Many thanks :)
Dom

The tank is in good condition, it is off a standard beetle, can get a picture if you want?
Thanks

I'm glad you have found the issue!!  ;-)up

It is worrying when some supposed experts 'fix' things!  >:( >:( Hence why I try to do absolutely everything myself!

Won't be long till you are back on the road?

Bit more progress done, got most of the old floorpan off, cut the rear crossmembers off, got all the engine tin on, need to clean and paint most of it still.
Got the front beam all bolted up. Got some GT wheels on it which I quite like the look off  ;-)up
Need to do something with the rear suspension as the front track is wider than the back, and the front wheels sit nicely under the shell so dont want to narrow the front, need to widen the back track somehow!  :o

Done my first of many fibreglass repairs  :D

Need to make up the framework for the body to sit on now out of channel, weld that to the chassis, mount the driver seat and pedals and buy a second hand exhaust / make one  ;-)up ;-)up

I love my scat stainless rocker covers, allow for high lift rockers, whilst still using the standard style securing clips, got little tabs inside to keep the gasket in place and they were shiny when I fitted them  ;D ;D

The wonderful delivery driver dropped some more bits off to my house today  ;-)up ;-)up ;-)up

My bits from Machine 7 turned up, pushrod tubes (painted black to stop them rusting) and seals, spark plugs, oil strainer gaskets, rocker cover gaskets, angled oil filler neck that I have polished with autosol this morning  ;-)up and a fuel pump blacking plate that needs cleaning up and polishing. I was going to wet and dry gradually using finer grade sand paper then use autosol, is that the standard way of polishing stainless?

And then my bag of stainless allen head tinware bolts turned up  :D :D :D

My Dad also noted that the wolfrace wheels that came with my floorpan I just picked up, each wheel is missing 2 of the inserts! Will have a better look tomorrow as I hadn't noticed it, but after looking back at the photos you can see something isn't right!!
Does anyone know where I can get inserts for the wheels?

Got a bit more done today.
Got some of the engine tin in paint

Painted 6 of my slots, got 2 more left to do. Just need to decide on tyre sizes, the current plan is to have a pair of 195/65 or 205/65 15's on the front, a pair of mud terrains and a pair of drag dot style slicks. That means I can swap wheels and tyres over and all 4 will still match.
I think these style wolfrace slots look better in black!

Beach Buggy Body and Chassis Help / Opening bonnet
April 22, 2016, 04:51:10 PM
I am thinking of modifying my bonnet to make it open, it will have a full rollcage so will potentially hinge if off the front hoop.
Just seeing if anyone has made theres so the bonnet opens, or have any info about buggies that came with opening bonnets.
