I modified a new standard tank by blocking off the original filler pipe and adding a new one to the top so I could have a Le Man's style chrome cap. The air vent on the O/S of the tank went via a one way valve allowing the tank to breath but not leak fuel. Hope that helps. 😎👍

Already asked him Not For Sale he's telling me.

Hi Guys

I am thinking of possibly selling my LWB Doon Buggy.  She was built 2017 and was on display at the Volksworld Show.

Built from all new parts, so no expense spared, currently completed less than 1000 miles since she was built.

She also has a bespoke mohair soft top and bikini top.

If interested then please pm me your email address so I can send you some images.

Potential home move causing reluctant sale.

Hello all, can anyone reccomend someone who will supply and fit a custom hood with side and rear screen to a swb sidewinder with manx style screen. I'm in Billingham in the northeast so a 2 hour radius from me would be ideal.

Hi

I used Chris at Customcoachtrimming.co.uk he made a bespoke soft top with removable side screen, plus a bikini top as well.  There are images of my Doon Buggy on his website.  He's a great guy and does some fantastic work.  All the best.

Hi

I used Chris at Custom Coach Trimmers who is based in Evesham, http://www.customcoachtrimming.co.uk or tel 01386-834454.

Chis made my bespoke mohair soft top, plus a bikini top, both were an amazing job, would recommend him for any trim work required.

All the best.

Parts Wanted / Re: Chassis
June 07, 2017, 10:49:25 PM
Hi there

I have a standard / LWB Chassis that's had new floor pans installed, work was carried out by a VW Bodyshop.

She is a January 1962 registered Beetle with the V5 stating Historic Vehicle so Tax Free.

I also have a Kingpin Beam that can go with the chassis.

PM me if this is of interest to you?

Hi Guys

Can anyone suggest / recommend a company that can manufacture a soft top for a Buggy, as I am struggling to find anyone that willing to take on the job.

Happy to travel to find the right trimmer?

Any suggestions would be greatfully received.

All the best.

Hi Dom

I know you have already purchased your carbs, but just for referance twin choke 40 down draft EMPI's will fit under the Doon rear end, I did however have to purchase offset manifold so that the one carb didn't hit the cover on the rear light.

Regards

Peter

Hi Dave

What did Postman Pat charge you for import duties seeing the item value was over £15.00?

Hi

The measurement is 175cm.

I think that I have now found the correct offset as being 3.75", thanks for your help.

Many thanks. ;-)up

Hi

Thanks for the info.

A 3.5" back space seems to be a popular size with a number of wheels that I have looked at.

I am still in the process of building up the suspension so not able to physically measure my Doon at the moment.

I appreciate your help.

Hi Guys

I have managed to find suitable alloys for my LWB Doon that I am building, but need to find out what the correct / ideal offset for the front wheels is?

The wheels are machined to suit the vehicle, therefore I have the opportunity to have them machined with the offset of my choice.

So if anyone can tell me what the optimum offset is for the front wheels for a Doon, that would be fantastic.

The front wheel size is 6 x 15.

Speak to you soon.
