front end looks good but the welding :'(

what are your plans for back wheels, those wheel arches are going to take some filling, wide arent they?

When did safety ever take precedence over cool? Youve only got to look on vzi to know that banded wheels are the hot ticket rite now

If the original metal's sound I recon it'd be stronger doing it that way than welding in replacements. Very few swb chassis are 100% square and true anyway but they still drive fine.

Did you end up putting just one shim back under each cylinder or two?
#5
But he says the piston crowns are level with cyl tops, weird.

Yes sorry I was guesstimating 3mm but there was 2 x 1 mm shims under each barrel so I have 8 shims in total sorry for confusion I'm just stressed lol but I must admit the gap from piston top to top of barrel on 1300 was a massive 15mm

That needs invesigating. 15mm?

Does no one do tops using a frame these days? I prefer the look of them, they would give better headroom and would be easier to tension.

Cool buggy...Wide fives with cool tyres, solid colour, great hood.  Thanks for posting. ;-)up
Would the seats be standard from a beetle do you think?

Think so, the manx 2 is in the ford museum in the us iirc.
