Spoke with Mark tonight.
The camping is price is per pitch so is cheaper per head depending on how many are in the tent / camper etc.
The site does have a bar, cafe and restaurant plus potentially other food vendors and is just a 15 minute walk into Swanage.
I took a quick look tonight and for those that know Swangae, the camp site is basically behind the petrol station by the hump back bridge on the way inot town.

Had exactly the same issue on my way to Swanage this year. 4 miles out form the camp site my buggy just stopped and would not fire up.

Got towed to the camp site and some of the best buggy brains in the country spent a couple of hours checking sparks (yes they were showing on the spark plug on the case when removed), changed electronic ignition to points, ensured got fuel, changed distributor cap. Finally changed the flamethrower coil for an old blue coil spare I had with me and instant fire up....
The coil was less than 3 years old flamethrower coil that was gel filled. I have since bought an oil filled flamethrower (as I now know they do both types) and hope I have more luck with this one too.

50 amp for main feed wire from battery to ignition switch and fuseboard
42 amp for starter solenoid wire
25amp main feeds from fuseboard to headlight and relay switches, headlamp relay etc.
16amp for main and full beam and main feed to speedo
11amp will do for side lights and indicators.
Earth wires (brown - various sizes to match feed wires)

I use as close to VW as possible so if anyone else has to look at the wiring in the future then much easier to to trace any faults.

I do supply  bespoke wiring kits will all correct size wires and 95% correct colours where they still exist. Coe with bespoke  real easy to follow wiring circuits too. Diagrams' to suit your project. Send me a DM if interested. Can also tell you best place to buy wires as they sell by the metre so need to buy a whole reel.

Welcome and great to see the hulk has found a new home.
I am the designer of the Doon and did the wiring on the Hulk too and I also live in Worcestershire too (Kempsey to be exact).
In terms of the seats can the frames beneath the seats be modified to effectively lower the seats any more?
As for the column, I can't remember what column was fitted to the hulk but I have a Golf MK4 in mine that fits easily onto the Doon column support frame and is adjustable in and out and up and down. You are more than happy to come to my place and sit in my Doon to try it out for size.
I would also speak with Lee at Volksmagic about the cage as they are the best in the area for making and modifying bespoke buggy cages.

50amp battery to ignition / Fusebox
42amp ignition to starter

I have had issues with aftermarket ball joints in the past and some fit tighter than others.

The ones on my buggy now were so tight initially that I had to steer in and out of corners (no self-centring).

It has honestly taken about 25,000km of driving for them to be loose enough to re-centre on their own.

And still looks great as ever buddy - 20 years, wow!!

Got back last night from a fabulous weekend at Swanage 2023.

Just what I needed after a few crappy weeks.

As always a huge massive thanks to Terry Flanagan for being the best non organiser of an event I know.

As well as arranging the use of the football club for camping and facilities and liaising with the carnival committee, people probably don't realise he also sorted out the PA for Friday and Saturday entertainment, ensured there were loo rolls and cleaned the toilets himself throughout the day and even bought the coals for the barbecue out of his own pocket.

So even though he doesn't want them,  and I know he will hate me for it, I think we should all ply him with the accolades and praise he so richly deserves because without him there would be no such thing as the Swanage Buggy Weekend.

Always the first event on my calendar every year.

Roll on 2024.
