Yep, great weekend, well done to all involved.

Got back to Kent safely, journey wasn't as bad as Daves but it took over an hour to get to Ringwood - just solid at 11:00!

Doh! Sorry peoples, hadn't realised this had posted, thought it had got lost when the browser crashed.

So credit to Snoopy and David for answering the most vague question ever

The story was I ordered an inner tie rod for my '71 and when it got here the ball joint spigot was to long and narrow so you couldn't tighten it up. Was gonna ask the question, then realise numpty here had, in my haste, ordered a pre '68!! So have now ordered the correct one and hopefully will solve the problem.

On a mission to get the buggy and van ready to go on hols en route to Swanage so all a bit ,anic at the moment!!

If you did something like this could you then use the cross bar as a brace to terminate the rear members of a roll cage on? I have seen a lot of cages are bolted to the rear of the tub with spreader plates but was looking for something more substantial...?

Yep, they are M12 x 1.5 as David says, which is a fine thread - most M12's are 1.75

You can order them from specialist bolt suppliers rather than the VW scene guys, that's what I did when I was fitting my a-frame.

If you get stuck let me know cause i think I have some new ones left over from when I did mine, was a 10No. minimum order quantity or something, so can chuck them in the post if you need some.

What sort of condition are the better ones in, also cloth/colour and do they have the speakers

When I had significant -ve camber on the back (top of wheels lean in) it killed the handling on corners, basically when under load on corners or going over bumps the -ve camber causes the rear to "hop".

I spent a weekend playing with the rear camber till I got it pretty much neutral, this combined with camber wedges (as you have mentioned in another thread) and fitting custom shocks made a huge difference to the handling.
