Good thinking back on the road for the summer, list the changes and improvements you want to make as you use it then after the rebuild it is very close to how you want it. However they are never finished and keep evolving.

so as i clean and strip bits i'm capable of after finding 1 or 2 oil leaks,
new crank pulley
new fuel pump and gaskets,
cleaned push rods
cleaned rockers new gaskets and covers
new push rod tubes & seals
oil pump gasket and new cover plate (on order)
just waiting for above to arrive then put new pulley on and can sort out the timing
bodywork/roof is ongoing repair will post up when i have done more about that,

yep once the stress of getting it back on the road is over,, i'm already looking at fabricating my own dash and centre console, but fixing the roof of all its paint pits, cracks and voids is priority before it rains to bad round here ;-)up

not sure if this qualifies as a full linkage change or just the bushes etc
You get a coupling and repace the lot but the location grub screw should be lockwired around the shaft or it will come undone and you loose your gears.
I'll be interested in how the scat shifter fits in, mine took a load of fettling to get right with some serious adaptions to base late and the end of the shift rod.. But now it's working it's awesome......
Mike the skat went on almost fine (he says that before a second test) , took a few attempts to settle it and find the gears but got there without having to modify the base plate, however there is some slop in there and this clunk when shifting so thats next step to sort that linkage coupling bush etc then will see if it did go on ok.

pretty sure ive got all the dings and dents out, rebuilt the corners by about 2" each side so that now they fit nice and flush against the windscreen and first layer of high build primer on incase i've left a few holes :D ;-)up
That is looking good you rarely see rancheros with the roof as people took them off.
Personally I like the roof, bit of an effort to get in sometimes but definitely transforms the look when on.
I think today I'll try and marry some side pods I got of £b#y again nit the usual looking ones so maybe another twist in the looks 8)
The latest attempt at sorting out the offset of the rear lights,the wedge needs to be strengthened and cut/trimmed to fit but i think its 3rd attempt lucky with shaping this mould

Despite the weather i've almost finished the new dash, a little more work on the top corners needed and a little off the back to fit in nicely, i need to make a long length bracket to fit across the back so the weight can be take up by the centre console and the flat bar when the bonnet needs to come off which means the extra recess will make a nice secure place for the new fuse board etc, next will be to lay the dial and switch configuration out, fleecing and dunking in resin then i can get a mould and finally have a working dash again ;-)up

bad news though looks like a trip to VolksMagic very soon, took tank out to fit new sender and the drivers side frame head looks like an oil explosion, master cylinder has made a mess of the paint and metal work and the steering box might have a leak as well :( :(
steering box should be filled with grease not oil so just a bit of seepage where it has separated with time and heat.
Been a while,,last 3 months have been chaotic for a stupid number of reasons,,
So, update time i scraped the dashboard as i wasn't 100% happy and when i came to making the centre console the 2 just wouldn't sit together and look right, so as time would let me i started from scratch once again and this time i'm much happier with the outcome.

on another note, i snapped the new oil switch & pressure sender T piece in the engine block and cant get the broken thread out :(

got the battery terminals finished and indicator stalk to work properly, blew 4 fuses with some crossed wires ::) but all sorted at the main end now, last stop on the elecs the engine.

Hi davydoff, had them acid dip'd and shot blasted at local refurbers, did some sanding myself 1k and 2k grit wet/dry to help smoth out any pitting that was left from the shot blast, then took back to same place and had them powdercoated in silver chrome, nobody round here would touch them for a diamond cut saying the tool wouldent reach deep enough into the dish on the 8 1/2" for a good finish??, so toal was £40 notes for the clean up, £180 nottes for the powdercoat

Got that dreaded phone call today,
engine now on the work bench and first up somehow in the past water has got in the engine, scorched pistons and barrels and 1 side of the pushrods are damaged, so off to have a nose on tuesday before they do any more digging and looks like i better take me wallet...

Has it got chrome pancake filters on as they can allow rain water in depending on carb and how they fit. Bit of a bummer though and more expense.

It has scat pancakes on now,, when i first picked it up over a year ago there were no filters on at all and the only time i've driven it was off the trailor and into the garage so damage has to have happend some time ago, didnt think i'd done a bad job of some fixes and replacing bits (to the extent of my knowledge and bravery) and even sounded like it was running quite well compared to the rough and pop of when i first bought it. So annoying coz all i thought/hoped was wrong was the continuing appearance of new oil leaks and everything just needed a strip and clean, seals & gaskets and a fresh look.

Rich it depends how you want to go and how much you have to spend new 1600 barrrels n pistons are £125 plus but then they go on a worn bottom end and will put more strain on it so would recommend a full strip and rebuild.
You could source some used ones to get it running whilst sortting out a full rebuild or replacement.
yeh, off to see dave at kingfishers and have a proper look at whats going on with it on tue after they gat back from malvern weekend show,, they havent looked at the bottom end yet, quote so far is £120 ish to drop back to 1600 pistons and upto £200 dependin on quality to replace existing 1641

on the + side its gonna be a sweet looking and perfect runner when its done,,
on the - side its gonna hit me savings

Had a nightmare over past few weeks with one of the front brakes, after i blew a piston out a few months ago i managed to get the piston back in ok, went to put new pads in and it just would not accept the pad on one side and refused to sit back over the disk,, various trys to refit to no avail even striped it down 2k sand down on the piston and barrel, a rebuild kit, yet it still would not accept the new pad and go back in place,,
so gsf weekend discount for a pair of new calipers and pads for less than 75 notes,
so new cliper on one side, just new pads on other for now (left side is completely silent as the wheel spins, right side with just the new pads is scraping as it spins may swap that one out yet), wheels on and the front end is finally back on the ground and hopefully a lot less headaches for now as 90% of the mechs is done just some body repair, sand&paint and put the elecs back together fingers x ;) ;) ;)

Right after a nightmare tryin to upload these here we go, not the best paint quality as they are just some sample to see what i liked and i'm still not sure lol, originaly i was looking for something dark purple - nebula like, but then i saw a sparkely teal that looked like the stars were out on a clear blue day, so where to go now,, i ruled out the purple as i've come up with a name for the buggy and purple will not suit it lol. so down the teal route,
so layers are as follows, cheap high build primer, coarse silver base, kandy teal base, sparkles and lacqure didnt smooth surface just keyed to take the primer and i didnt cut back after 2 coats of lacqure on top of the sparkles as they are just for ideas and i wasnt looking for perfection ;D

Quick update, got slowed down loads lately with some silly stuff happenin, having now sanded down the outer skin of the shell and my latest set back has been a million and one pinholes opend up in the gelcaot, got the resin out and did a light brush over the skin to fill the holes,, unfortunatley i made the stupid judgment of mixing different resin and hardener brands and it didnt cure, so ended up waisting a week waiting for it to not set and then scrubbing the mess back off. so shell is back to just needing a scuff on the inside with a couple of deep scratch repairs to do, noticed a couple of new repairs needed to do on the roof and then thats ready for its final scuff.
windscreen/bonnet is almost finished, sanded down and repairs cureing off just 1 final rub down to square it up, again chasing pinholes but also having to drill out stress cracks has slowed it down.

looking forward to seeing this one badger, going to be a beaut. I used to paint cars back in the early 80's, my project was already in colour so i missed the satisfaction of doing my own paint , always the option of redoing further down the line if i fancy a change, only ever played around with flakes on a few bike tanks so would be good to do a whole buggy 👍 Love the quality of your build 👍
quick update, only a little bit of awkward sanding left to do, got some more sparkles and going to do another couple of samples before settleing down to do the paint :-X, in the meantime got the drivers seat test fitted and just about slides in and my position to fit the mirrors done, still have to sort placement of antennas and a slight french for the back lights, id rarther do all me drilling etc before putting the new paint down and chipping it :-[

Those seats do look extremely smart....and comfortable.
Hugh, they are verry comfortable, they dont quite hug you as buckets do so there is a little wiggle room (space for eating more pies ;D ) but do offer bolster support where you need it.
These are sparco R100 vinyl recliners, now if your patient enough you can get a good quality 2nd hand single or a pair on flea bay
However i wanted to be sure i bought something that both me and the missus would be comfortable in so went for a test and buy from a family run company called GSM Performance in Nottingham and i cant reccomend them enough if anyone is prepared to pay retail.

Ah yes.... more memories....... you must use the matching resin & hardener..... If you use the incorrect mixing it will not cure no matter how long you wait.

Weird how this became a buggy thing way back in the mists of time. had to have triangular union jack flags on as well. There were some real dodgy things that whipped about all over the place. ;-)up ;-)up ;-)up
Paul there are some aerials that whip about a tad - having a small triangular flag only increases the whipping effect.
The antennas (antennae?) come from the original intended use of these vehicles where seeing the flag over a dune was a safety feature
Yeh adding the flag is/was the safety issue with riding dunes,, the craze for a while in yank land has been led wrap around kits, must admit I was tempted to get a 2nd pair of antennas and do this myself for the novelty factor,, ps illegal to use on the road here,,

Those LED ones are amazing - saw a sales rep showing me how indestructable they were, but the strain on the mounting points cannot be underestimated !!
However thick the metal is where you mount them, they will eventually end up ripping the mounts clean off the car
So chassis and body all cleaned up, garage cleaned and lined, almost about to start making last paint sample on the old dash fingers X we should start spraying from tmorra :-X

Rain stopped play, had to pack up and get buggy back in garage before i could finish,cheap HB primer then a light sand back (240 grit) followed by V coarse silver base, forcast for the mornin isnt too bad so i get to play with me flake gun in the mornin 8)

so last sample/playing around done, i wanted to see if i could pust some silver flake under the candy base to try and get more pop through the base,, it didnt work with the layers i put down, went for a slightly darker shade with the teal candy and a little more rainbaw flake for the topcoat, just a shame the flake didnt pop through the base.
had a few issues with runs and i somehow managed to knock the dash off the stand and take a few chunks out the paint layers ::)

So, not one to shy away from me own mistakes (i'm bein polite) everything was set to stat saturday mornin with the paintwork,, after all the prep and tack down the first caot is a product called slicksand from evercoat, for those not knowing what this is its a filler primer for a smooth slick straight body, its basically a sprayable body filler that has good adhesion for fiberglass (and other stuff) sands back well and allows the following coat of primer to be of better quality than a high build one.
here we go then, shook tin up for about 2 min and as the hardener is in paste form all product is weighed out on the scales rarter than using pre measured mixing pots, calculated what weight ratio (2% hardener) i needed and strained before putting in the paint cup. using a 2.5 tip you can reduce this by upto 10% but most advise that you spary thick and neat. 15-20 min till tacky 2hrs cure time,,

heres the kicker 8hrs later it had a light tack on it and was just like wet putty all over ::)
sunday morning it still hadn't cured so out came the scrapers and cleared the lot back off,,
i think what happed was a mixture of things,, temperature in the garage was about 15-16 deg, i got my hardener ratio off slightly and something i found out tonight when about to attempt 1 more try,, a 1" thick sludge at the bottome of the tin,,
so tonight i got the tin and shook like mad saw the sludge and got a mixing stick in there to break that up,, intantly the product became a thicker concistancy i tiped in almost all of the hardener that was left just short of half of the tube and beat it like a man possessed,, have to now work quick as seriously didnt want me flake gun (bigest tip gun ive got) cloging up with this stuff,, 15 min later and i got 1 full coat on the bonnet and a little on some of the roof,, 15 min later the wet shine has gone and its starting to dry.
so a £30 a quart lesson learnt, dont just shake the tin tip some out and stir it and make sure you get the hardener ratio right.
p.s ive now got a 4 day wait till i get the delivery of more slicksand to replace what ive waisted.

Poor packing, still causes you grief
Started last bit of bodywork, reinforcing the antenna area with 3mm plate and useing it as the ground anchor, bit of brown trouser moment as i had/have (gotta do the other side yet) to grind out a square area as best as i can to 3mm depth for the plate to sit in without breaking through the fiber into the gel, then glassed it all in, job done just drill through the plate from existing hole in top of body one glass has had a few days to harden off completley conect the earth up when everythin goes back together ;)

Today, did the other side of the antenna mounts, also bonnet/windscreen upto 3 coats of slicksand so thats done ready to sand back clean up and prime, roof has had 2 coats but wasnt quite as rough as the bonnet after the initial sand down so may leave it now for sanding -- will see what it looks like when dry. Noticed a couple of areas along the side edges of the body where the laminate has peeld apart water and dirt ingress so ground those back and new fiberglass layed back down.

So yesterday i went shoping :-X got back and cut back the bonnet and roof, today i've laid up the black primer and wet sanded the bonnet :-* so by lunch tmorra i should have the roof wet sanded and the main part of the body in slicksand drying off,, if there is time and energy after that i may start on the silver base coat.

bit of a kicker yesterday but glad it happend/spotted at this stage,, noticed 3 cracks in the roof that i'd never seen, only noticed after the water from wet sanding was drying off leaving a fine line of wet where the cracks were, so taped out the ends and channelled out to repair, they wernt just cracks -- through and through split, so glad i found these before the paint went on.

Flattening your paint in the rain is ideal.. Done this many many times. Stops the wet & dry clogging up perfectly and it washes the mess away for you.... ;D ;D ;D

started off at 10-11am,, weathers been too windy to put up the paint tent (so i can do all body stuf in one go) as a last resort have to do something today cant waist time booked off work so ive made a start on the roof in the garage,, silver base going on,, endless runs down 1 side only, scuffed back respray the bad bits,, runs in the same spots,, do it again, my word >:( managed to crack it on the third attempt, now sitting quiet while a layer of intercoat tacks off so i can tape up for next stage of painting it, looks like its gonna be a late one tonight

its dulled off now the intercoat is on, the sides are all taped off and a box/edge on the top so for tmorra i'll give it a 2k scuff before puttin on the silver flake, then more taping for 2 maybe 3 different candy concerntraits then final topcaot,, thats just the top of the roof gotta blend the sides down to match the body all while watching the weather to see if i can put the tent up to do the rest :-X

Not wanting to preach to anyone.. Are you using a face mask with P3 filtration ? So important in an enclosed area.
half mask, organic/inorganic gas vapour filters, + got a ventilator hooked up (2070cfm (977 litre/sec) airflow rate)to suck out from garage and the door is open 99%of the time. trust me i dont even stand in there waiting tween flash offs with all the kit ive got.

Rich... honestly not trying to tell you how to suck eggs. ;D ;D Just at my age there is no turning the clock back... I thought using a face mask, which I didn`t for decades but do now, was sufficient to keep me safe as I couldn`t smell any vapour etc and as you will know solvents for all paints are pungent to say the least. If you havn`t already done so add a P3 filter to what you have. My face masks hold the round style filters and with the P3 on it`s like having a huge tube of smarties hanging off my head. Awkward at times but you get used to it. The other thing people forget is that the solvents are readily absorbed by the eyes... Just want my forum mates to be as safe as houses ;-)up ;-)up ;-)up ;-)up
So today i had to re-tape the roof,, i assume it was temperature flux's in the garage that caused most of the curves in the tape to tighten up and pull themselves off. started the paint about 1hrs ago its late and im not happy but i have to keep going now as the paint is causing issues with the tape and i'm not starting from scratch again tmorra,
loads more masking aswell today more to come in a min.

After a long long weekend we're almost at the finish post, all paint down, flakes down, everything very carefully packed away till next weekend so i can put the layers of clear over and cut it all back,, phew need to go to work for a rest now.
couldent get any picks of the body in the teal as it was too dark in the tent to show it -- just looks black like the pick of the bonnet, the teal has come up very dark green rarther than a blue green however the FLAKE well --- thats changed the entire look and brightend up the colour :D :D :D :D Rich.

Loks great, thinking you will need some of the clear paint protection film applied to the tub to stop paint damage by the hard to as it will move and flex.
agree with keith... An even "thin" coat of laquer. If you do this check first that the laquer is compatible with the paint type you have used. Don`t overdo the laquer coating.. it has a tendency to develop a yellow hue.. (waiting for the comments on this ha ha) ;-)up ;-)up
Spaul I meant the sort of clear wrap anti chip protection that comes in a sheet that you cut to fit, they do model specific cut to shape kits for mgb's porsches and alike also bumper protection ones for modern estates.

So not been able to do anythin for some time, work - weather and followed by attempted breakin of me garage meant compleat lockdown till new door and window had been put in, (nothin taken just damage to door and window) >:( i'v finally got back to cutting the laqure back and polishing up, 5hrs at it today on the bonnet and from 2 foot away its perfect look realy close and there is still some minor orang peel and a few paper scratches that the pads didnt quite cut out, not sure wether to leave it as is now, i was never gonna achieve perfection in my eyes (first time ive used metal flake on such a large scale)

As some of you may be aware I had an attempted break in on the garage late 2017, unaware of any damage to the buggy at the time I continued to polish up the bonnet etc hence the previous posts, however after the crimbo break I rolled out the body to start cutting and polishing and found to my dismay that there was 2-3 chunks missing in the paint where the sh..es had knocked stuff over trying to get to my bikes. Distraught and angry I have been unable to touch sunshine for almost 12 months, I just couldn't get into the right frame of mind knowing how much work had gone into her and how much it would take to start from scratch again.
However over the past 3 months I have been digging myself in to an early grave to get it ready for this year's show and I can say I'm shattered lol. The paintwork is 95% done (just the artwork to redo on the roof) and ill be starting the cut and buff on the body this weekend.
And now all that is left is to put it back together check over and mot.
It's been hard going and now time is getting tight I'm reluctantly asking for some help (I'm one of those who finds it hard to ask) just to make sure it gets over the finish line. If you can spare a few hrs evening or weekends it would be much appreciated, pm me if you can help.

Hi Rich, that is good news just over 3 week to the NEC show so look forwards to seeing it. How much is there to do. Could tow it to the show and we can have 3 days as a team to complete it.

Body to be bolted back down, accelerator pedal tweaking? Think I know what the problem is, shifter honed in to make sure it selects well, reconnect the elecs loom is already in place, the back end needs to be checked for clearance from body after I did borrow alans adjuster for the torsion bar, lights mirrors fitting, steering column and dash to go back in, new seats to be set and bolted down, body rubbers ordering and fitting, general check over from send set of eyes, fuel tank needs the old return hole brazing and a one way valve fitting, think that's about it lol.
Happy to roll my sleeves up at the NEC and get spannering - don`t feet mate, we will get it finished ;-)up
Gives us something to do at the show too ;-)up
hmm apreciate the offer and something to think on,,
the current goal is/was to be able to drive it to work a day or 2 before the show so it gets a little shakedown and then turn up at the show with that " I did that, thats mine feeling " you know.

so this evenin ive been slowly writing a to do and to buy list (first nights rest in 3 weeks and boy me feet are thanking me) things not looking to bad for the bolt on stuff will have to wait and see what happens with any delivery times.
didnt take many pics this time of the paint but got a couple near the end,, had a few of the local gawpers saying it looks better than the last time it was done.
same paint and flake but a change in the sizes, i went for a mix of 1/3rd large and 2/3rds small to give a better overall coverage but the large realy does make it catch your eye at different points

that looks a good finish. Are you doing full saturdays and sundays or are there week days on it. Wil sort you a spare day and have a ride up will not take long to get it done with the other offers.
working on it at any oportunity snoopy, the roof art should be a couple of nights work over the next week then cureing wait and polishing a week later, gotta pop up the hospital today porley grandparents, today/tmorra hopefully i'll have the accelerator problem sorted, run the antenni cables and braze a fitting on one for the radio, have the outside paint cut back and a coat of black mipa on the under tub to cover oversprays, body back on and bolted down, waiting on an email responce from a local radiator comp about the fuel tank they recon most fixes you will get back same day,,
Seems you are going on pretty well, if you get stuck can nip up ideally for a near full day as you are over an hour away on a clear traffic trip. Hope the grandparents get better soon.
Didnt get anything done last weekend, me nan was ready to be discharged yesterday but grandad wont be coming out.
its took a couple of nights and most of today but the bonnet and body are both wet sanded and first cut so will prob start with 2nd cut/semi polish and final polishing up tmorrow. found problem with accelerator to be,, i was missing the jubilee clip that holds the cable tube through the fan shroud, resulting in loss of tention and the pedal not returning to proper position,, sorted just needs a fettle once the engine comes alive.
fuel tank should be getting a lookover on monday
left my steering column with dave kingfishers should be sorting a nice snap on kit and wheel over the next week
so time to hit google for new seals and rubbers, a 2" flexi fuel hose, aero filler cap, what wheel i want dave to get me, and there is bound to be something ive forgot lol.

Hi Kieth, hopefully the gaffa will let me have this comming fri and monday off so will give me a 4 day blitz, stuff on order for delivery later this week fingers x, so hopefully the next few evening/nights i'll have the roof finished and the 2nd cut and polish done on the body and bonnet leaving a long weekend to put it all back together. and a last min mot.

gaskets and trim shoud get here tmorra also the aero cap. still gotta sort a 90 deg and 45deg fuel hose bends and a flexi pipe might as well do it properly,, measured the old full length flexi wich the ends have torn and i'm sure had a leak on it and its longer than most suppliers sell lengths (670mm sell in 500mm lengths), fuel tank went in this mornin fella took one look at it and gave the the 50/50 wether it will survive the acid bath >:( got another tank here but the corners arnt scalloped and my luck it would be just as rusty as the buggys.
So the tank maded it with flying colours,, i didnt think it was as bad as the guy made out,, brazed the old return pipe off and 2 day acid bath £80 not too bad i think, now i can order the new filler pipes. Roof art finally finished tonight and 3 layers of laqure to seal it off (just enough time for it to harden enough for the show i think),, put some rainbow flake in with the silver this time to give even more zing to it lol

A few hours today with Badger and Allan and it has moved on well body fitted most wiring done, dash and lights fitted. Must say for a flake paint job in a tight garage space at home the result is very even and deep, For a first attempt with flake ;-)up

a massive thanks to keith and alan today for helping move things along especially refiting the body as it was such a struggele to get the body streched enough to get some of the bolts in and the last of the engine wireing that was giving me headaches, its now at the point where as soon as i get my steering column back i can pop the tank in and she should be ready for her first fire up in 3 years ;-)(-; ;-)(-;
still pleanty of fettleing to do but most of it should just be bolt on and adjust things.

Lol, trouble is it cost me more in petrol than the £1.50 nut,, was hoping for some fireworks an hour ago but the battery is dead :( bit of grub, coffee and a smoke put it on charge and see what it's like in the mornin
Some work done today,, Had to get new battery, front indicators back on, front lights back on,, Had to do this now as the tank is in the way for doing it after the bonnet is on, tank in new fuel filter, seats ready to mark where to drill the mounting holes, only the reverse switch and wiper mother left to plug in, however I've had a gremlin jumping about in the elecs all afternoon, started off with the indicators and hazards both working at the same time, now I have hazards but no indicators,, then me main beam would die and a couple of the relays keep making orible noises I'm now left scratching my head and kicking the walls >:(
Sounds like a missing earth or poorly relays.
Pity I'm 40 miles away now bud otherwise I could have come round. Check plugs into back of column are in the correct place and a tab isn't bent somewhere.
As Chad says possibly an earth so try and remake the rear earths or extend them to reach into the battery box to the negative. if indicators and hazards still work together there must be a wire bridged somewhere possibly on the wrong terminal.
Meant to ask does it turn over and all the engine circuits work.
Chad when the main lights button is pushed ( this doesn't happen all the time) everything crackles/flickers the noise is coming from the original vw 5 pin relay and one of the cables between that and a 4 pin feels like it's getting warm, I pulled the cables from the hazard blocks like you said and it didn't make a difference, I had a couple of the connections from the indicator stalk the wrong way round and I think both 3pins blew and a couple of 10a fuses, had a spare and rushed round a mate for a spare 3pin lucas from an old cortina they seem to be holding this time
Keith, I haven't started the engine yet, but I did flash the key at the start position and it chugged so it's getting power,, i need to do an oil pump before starting so pull the coil wires or just hand crank a dozen times before firing up?

Yhe wire shoulddnt be getting warm, sounds like a short somewhere. Could be in the original relay or wire on the wrong pin. Just double check everything. Pareticulalry if it worked previously. Chad

on the phone to snoopy this evenin and found the problem with all the elecs, it was a short/screw through the earth wire in the column housing,, the only difference between when the elecs first went in and tested and now was i didnt have the locating pins for the stalk ring so went to local fasteners and got some made up the same size as the one i had. i remember putting them it and then putting the unit away for painting ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)
fuel tank went back to the shop as the outlet fiber washer had disintegrated and sent petrol everywhere, luckily i hadnt bolted it down and managed to tip it up only lost about a ltr of petrol lol but managed to spot a pin hole appear where the paint had bubbled and gone soft,
seats went in today damn they look good,
so left to do is,
bolt plates on,
harnesses to clip in,
windows to put back on,
mirrors to fit,
wiper motor and arms to fit,
fuel cap to fit
link tank back up hopefully fixed this time,
and a problem with the csp carb linkage tower sticking to sort pheww not much for 1 night left

Hope this evening went well after a chat. side windows could be fitted on the stand at the show and any other little bits. just take the tools required.
all the fuel stuff sorted bonnet went on verry tight and scraped the laqure in a few spots, however tonight has ben a disaster time wise,, couldent get the wiper motor to work to start with then finally working fitted to bonnet and now it dosent sit right the mech arms are hitting between the back of the dash and then moving up the windscreen rubber, front lights on but one of then wont sit right and keeps floping forward.,
kieth i havent touched the carb/linkage/pedal unfortunately ran out of time, will be begging and pleading me gaffa to let me get away asap tmorra hopefully around 11am or earlier and make the time up next week if i cant then im at a loss
one for mr dnd, picked this little beaute up from james listers & sons (motor sport dep) the other day, breather connector and pipe was about £16.50, mad bit of kit you cannot blow into either end it will only suck from the directional end.

little problems that take hours to solve. wipers may need washers on the spindles so it does not bolt so close to the bonnet. for an mot they only have to clear the screen to pass even if they are fouling and noisy they just need to clear your vision. I have no frre time to nip up Wednesday.
head light again may need just a mm or 2 of packing above the nut.

Well what a day,,, didn't get her finished last night,, managed to blag a half day at work even though I've no holiday time left, 12:15 went straight to work on the engine, 3:45 was my cut off point,, couple of frantic calls to Keith around 2:30, and by 3:50 she road to life with a vengeance but with only 1 carb working. Phoned mot to cancel booking for 4:30 and couldn't get back in till 1pm tmorrow. Panic stations again, by 4:45 both carbs working and she sounds like an absolute beast, but still had some fettling to do,, so I've just finished for the night with only the front lights to set as best as I can and the wiper arms to fit 1St thing in the morning and managed to book a new mot for 8:00am at a backstreet place. God I'm shattered lol
