Title: 1835cc Sidewinder
Post by: sawmilljim on June 19, 2015, 07:40:53 AM
Much as I love my buggy, a 2 seater for me, the Mrs, our son and the dog just isn't working. Having got her sorted for this season I've managed less than 40 miles in 3 months, so with regret I'm offering her for sale.
Built by myself she's a swb Sidewinder in dark purple flake gel.
I started with an original buggy but soon realised what a shed I'd bought so had the chassis rejigged and rewelded and converted to irs by John Gurney, it was then hot galv sprayed.
I bought a new shell, screen and sidepods from Mel Hubbard, had the screen surround anodized black and spent the next 18 months building her up from scratch.
This year I had my 1835cc refurbished, it has rebuilt twin dellorto 36s, polished alternator, remote oil cooling and filter, new powdercoated tinware and new leads and electrics.
Also fitted a great set of ercos, 10 x 15 rears with 325/60/15 bfgs and 7 x 15 fronts with new 215/50/15s.
She has an adjustable front beam and adjustable rear springplates.
She has a matching set of autometer gauges including a monster tac but not all are connected to the new motor.
She was built to keep, had money spent anywhere it was needed and really is a superb looking, well sorted buggy.  V5 states "1300 beetle light 4x4 utility".

I'm asking £7000, there seems to be plenty of sellers asking a lot more for a lot less.  Could be less without the ercos - the rear tyres are now over £300 each.

I could deliver within reason but you REALLY need to come and look first and I'd need a decent deposit.
Someone is already interested in the buggy without the wheels and engine, so I'd sell the wheels and tyres for £850 and the complete turnkey 1835 for £2000 if anyone was interested. I'd need a home for the motor before I let the wheels go - sure you can see why.

Can I register my interest in the Ercos, unfortunately Im in Cumbria, so no chance of collection. Fine buggy, best of luck with a sale which suites you.

Buggy sold this morning  ;-)up
Going to a new owner who's already signed up here.
Think it may well put in an appearance at Swanage if all goes to plan.
Time for the big GP to get the love it deserves.

Big Blue stirs in its lair, has it's time come at last. Hope so.
