Filled up my tank yesterday evening, not to the brim and this morning I realise I'm in the market for a new or at least non leaking fuel tank for a Manta Ray MkII.
Fuel cap is central in the bonnet and I hope these snaps give an idea of the size/shape of what I'm looking for.

Are you sure its tank thats leaking and not the joint between the tank and the cap?
Just thought, as mine took forever to get the seal right
I think that's a body off job on a Manta, you might want to get the front beam checked too.
Yes Dave I did wonder if me filling the tank - but well below the brim might have gone above a certain level that was sealled. The wet tank and small fuel puddle happened over night having filled up 12 hours before. If it all dries off and I still have a decent level of fuel I can still use the car and not be so panicked into getting a replacement tank.
Flags thanks for your comment - I half dreaded posting images of under the body as I knew it would probably cause cosmetic distress to many and might provoke safety advice or the like from others. I can guess what the front beam is but are you saying that it looks damaged, defective, bent, rusty or some other thing ?
that looks like an early beetle tank pre 1960ish or a few years after. best do some measurments then have a word with Allan at Stoneleigh he knows a chap who makes very nice tanks for silly cheap prices, like one for Chimp £90

The garage are going to try and mend the slight leak on the seam but does anyone know if I can get a replacement fuel guage that will fit into this tank where you can see the breather pipe and electrical contact ?
I would say see Allan and get a new shiney one made Chimps was £90 a bargain and it will not rust reckon he could use yours as a pattern then fitting a sender will be easy if he cuts a hole and welds 5 nuts inside as it is made.
Certainly tempting. How do I know where exactly to get the 5 nuts welded in for the sender or can I buy a sender and give it to the tank fabricator so he knows the size hole and nut positions ?
You will need a beetle sender anyway or I have a blank top I am keeping to modify by fitting an aftermarket sender to you could borrow.

dil1986 it's very appropriate and on topic to post on this 5 year old chat as the tank was not replaced and last Friday (see chat in 'Seen in Herefordshire' in section 'Buggy Picture of the Day') I had yet another fuel blockage and its somewhere between the rear electric fuel pump and inside the tank.
It could be this black fuel pipe, now 5 years older, failing internally ?
So although I have now cleared whatever the blockage was by blowing air back into the tank my way forward long term must be to get the body off again and this time give the tank a thorough clear out internally and probably get another and certainly replace this black pipe.
