Just seen the thread there. Going to be cracking seeing all the old school stuff!

Was there a big debate then about tungsten lights and halogen like we have now with HID's?
"Those damn halogen lights dazzle me like nothing on earth!"

6V to 12v lighting was a massive improvement let alone the advent of halogen when they came out during the early to mid 70's. with 6v if you had a 12v behind you drove in your own shadow.
With 12v putting a pair of raydot fireballs on the front bumper connected to main beam helped a lot.
history repeats it'self dazzle was a problem with halogen then but the roads were a lot quieter and had more bends that restricted long vision the only straight roads were the motorways being built + vehicles were slower so being dazzlled was not as bad.
your average  new family car will blow away what we thought of as fast back then.

How true your comments are Snoopy. I had a 1962 Beetle with 6v lights not good at night on country roads. The whole kit car scene in the late 70's and early 80's was brilliant and the buggies were just a part of it. Whilst Snoopy and Peter were running buggies I was stripping a crashed MGB GT to build my NG TA which was loosely styled on a 1930's Aston Martin!

Linda my wife had a Ashley MG which was a MG Midget with a fibreglass one piece bonnet and fast back hard top

A very different time and place compared to now, just think no mobile phones, computers or the internet, what did we do with our time????????????

People must have actually finished their build projects instead of sitting on forums talking about them...

I can only imagine. :P

I think that was the Burlington, the NG was a bit easier than that, all the running gear from the MGB, a square section steel chassis made by Jeff Jago of Jago Jeep fame. The body bucket, radiator cowl and cycle wings were fibreglass, the bonnet aluminium with brass piano hinges.

I did over 30,000 miles in it as a daily driver and only sold it when I had no where to store it whilst working in India for a couple of years.
