The following is from Flags (he's not on here yet) But asked us to watch out for further Swanage updates on Jon's site here:
http://www.beachbuggyclub.com/forums/topic/399/swanage-carnival
Let the party start.
I’ve finally had our formal invite to attend the Swanage carnival and as always provide some pre procession entertainment.
The dates are from Fri 26th to Mon the 29th of July and camping will be at the usual venue of Swanage and HerstonFootball Club BH19 1NN. The camping area will be open from 1200 on the Fri which is after I have taken over the facilities, this also allows Dave to cut the pitch grass and stow his mower/line marking kit as there is a warm up game on the Sat. If you do arrive early please wait in the car park or have a look around town.
The costs for camping are the same as last year: £6 per adult and £3 for under 16’s per night for the Fri & Sat, anyone that can make a long weekend of it gets Sun night FREE!
The theme of the Carnival is Hollywood this year so if you feel the need to dress up I suggest we go with the flow but if like myself you are shy and retiring it is by no means compulsory but fun is.
The planned itinerary for the weekend is as follows but any ideas are welcome:
Fri - Get to the campsite- pitch tents - meet other buggers-talk crap-fish and chips-beer or fruit based drinks for the ladies.
Sat- Wake up early to bright sunshine - cook your own breakfast - talk crap - look at other buggies - drink tea - 11.00 mounted up ready for the cruise - wait for Gary -leave for the chain ferry - cruise - pick up BBQ food on the way back in - BBQ at the clubhouse - drink - beer etc.
Sun-Hoping for the full English at the club house for breakfast (TBC)-take a wander round the Carnival site-formed up at 1430 ready for the parade lap-parade-park up in town-watch the procession-back to the campsite-chill-tea in town-beer etc.
Mon-Pack up ready to go home.
As we know this is a relaxed weekend and all are welcome but please:
Have Fun!
Keep your tentage and the space you claim to a minimum.
Campervans are welcome but tents take priority and you may end up in the car park.
Dogs and even kids are welcome but please scoop their poop.
It is a Football club so respect the pitch.
On match day all alcoholic drinks and empty bottles must be out of sight until the crowd have left.
As there is a game on Sat leave nothing of value in your tents whilst on the cruise. We have never had a problem though.
Due to bylaws if you want to bring a caravan or motorhome please contact me beforehand, trailer tents do not apply so are ok.
We get the invite and the use of the club facilities because we lead the parade, please stay for that on the Sun, provision has been made for those not staying Sun night to either leave direct from the end of the parade route or get back to the football ground to pick up kit.
Park your buggies on the slope once unloaded not on the flat camping area.
For any newbies the facilities are basic but the fun makes up for it. Don’t take my word, ask around or have a look here:

Please join the event here:
Reply to this topic with numbers attending, tents and the important bit how many buggies. These will then be added by the Mods to this posting.
My email is flags@screaming.net and if you need to talk grab my home number off someone in the know or I’ll email it. I will post a mobile number a couple of days before the event.
Any questions feel free to ask.

Would like to book from Fri through to Mon. Would it be OK to Book a 2nd tent as a Friend and his son is hoping to also come (ORANGE Beetle that came last year) but cannot confirm as yet.
Flags - Info from Swanage Carnival 2013 website : Due to the Red Arrows show being on the Sunday (28 July) at 5.30pm, the carnival procession will start earlier than usual at 2.00pm. So do the buggies have to be ready for 1.30pm start??

Not long now!.... Getting Excited now!
(You keeping well Patrick?)
yes yes, every day better and better ;-)
If you want a Swanage Carnival programme in advance, you can pre-order it here for £4.60; (programme £2.50 + £2.10 p&p). They're posted out earlyish July.
I found it useful particularly as it lists all the live bands & their evening performing times, so you can google search them beforehand & decide who to go & see.
http://www.swanagecarnival.com/programme.aspx
This years theme is "Swanage goes to Hollywood", optional fancy dress for buggyists was mentioned by Flags
might be last minute but all family problems sorted brother doing well nothing to worry about now i hope so finaly im going for it lol passport ready and atleast its downhill to swanage. :D
thats all good news then Matt, but it's up hill on the way home!
Just to update I should be there in project CAMO Nicki and her son Adam in the T4 and a trailer tent.
Hope that's ok so 3 adults 1 buggy 1 t4 and a trailer tent :)
Dave Dream, 1 tent (one man), Buggy arriving Saturday morning.
Let me know if I have to pay anything Andrew please and the approach for the landing ;-)up
An update from Flags (still can`t get the miserable old git to sign up on here though ::) )
Just a quick update, until I can confirm otherwise no motor homes or caravans will be allowed at the football ground, trailer tents and T2 size camper vans are ok but as always the tents take first dibs on the flat stuff.
Please no entry to the camping field before 1200 to give the grounds man (Dave) a chance to get the grass cut.
After the parade lap all the buggies will be returning to the campsite and not parking up at the bandstand or in town due to projected numbers of visitors with the weather and the Red Arrows this year.

Hi Dave, Have added your name to Flags list on other forum. Usually we pay him when we are down there, so nothing to worry about until then.
Are there any other queries for folks that haven't been before that you want to know (i.e. pass onto Flags for you)
(PS added Buggy Steve and Pirate to the names on BBClub web forum too for him)
A quick message for any newbies reading on here:
This event is open to everybody, and is one of the major Buggy social events of the year, where we all get to meet up, often for the first time, cruise around on the saturday, chill out round the Bar-B-Que and then the parade through Swanage Carnival on the sunday
EVERYBODY IS WELCOME !!! THE MORE THE MERRIER !!
;-)up
returning to camp site after the cruise so no buggy display :'( well at least those of us having to go home can load the buggies and get out before the mad exodus when the carnival ends may even try the ferry route home as it will be quieter then.
Bit of a shame as we wont be able to see the carnival i spose, unless we get back to camp pdq.
i also want to see the carnival, hope they will all wait untill we return from the campsite ;-)up

Often for the first time? It's not the first show of the "season" and it took me years to get there ???

Its the first place that I met any of you :P
Update from Flags:
I've had a couple of questions so here goes:
Q1 Will we get to see the procession?
Yes, the emergency services go round after us then the Christchurch cruisers so we should have plenty of time to get back to Sandpit field to catch the majority of the event and also anyone that needs to leave early will be able to do so. We can also have a beer whilst watching the Red arrows if you are staying the night without having to drive.
Q2 Is there a theme?
As the carnival is Hollywood just go with the flow, Superheroes, Villains, Cartoons or anything Hollywood as long as it's loud and stupid.
Q3 Are we doing the breakfast on the Sunday again?
That depends on you lot, last year I took numbers for breakfast and the club bought in the food and arranged enough volunteers to serve us. A fair few then didn't attend due to a change of heart or just a heavy night.
The football club ended out of pocket and said it wasn't worth doing again.
I have negotiated with the bar manager a compromise, they will do it if we can supply accurate numbers (must be at least 40) and all ordered breakfasts must be paid for.
Q4 Are we doing the Poole VW show on Saturday
If you want to, I have no plans to go but you can head there if you want straight after the chain ferry. I think most of us will be down the beach however if it's raining it may be an option.
Q5 BBQ on Saturday night?
You bet! We can stop off on the way back from Ringstead bay to grab supplies and the bar will be open.
See you all there.
Flags.
Latest news is I had a call today from oilburner with the red volksrod who missed last years event but the good news is he will be there with there along with his son or son in law ( my memory is crap)who now has a buggy, so 2 tents and 2 more buggies.
looks like being a buggy meey of epic proportions best they cancel the footy match so we can have the pitch.
Hopefully getting down on Saturday morning due to the bus failing its MOT.
If bus passes on Friday poss one bus one buggy, 2 adults.2 monsters :D :D :D :D :D
Mark, Karen, Lewis and Jack
Will try to come down Friday after work if not then Saturday morning ;-)up
1 adult
1 buggy
1 tent
Ok well I am still very much going to be there.....
Though which car I'm in and what day is currently under review. :( :( :(
Andy,
Stop chatting on here and get it done :D
At least 2 hours of today left.
;) ;)
:P :P :P
Well if the guy with the complete transaxle local to me doesn't get in touch sharpish... I might be looking at those kind offers from the weekend... ;)
Hi Guy,
Just to confirm Mark, Janet, Amy, Sarah and RATITUDE. Plus Orange Beetle and friend
Will be arriving during the day on the Friday and staying till Monday. Due to the distance down to Swanage and as in previous years the Buggy will be a trailer Queen again and as per previous entry request space for 2 tents.
Looking forward to see you all again ;-)up
Anyone going from North of London on Friday, what routes are people taking?
I will be going around M25 but via Heathrow way...
(Though when and how I am is a totally different matter! :( )
I was going to go that way round the m25, then onto the M3
Right well while Andre is sunning himself in Magaluf again, I am borrowing his car again. Was hoping the replacement box will be fitted in time, but sadly not.
But it's not all doom n gloom. Instead if the 1300box we thought it was, it's now a 1500 one - result!
Ended up getting a whole scrap beetle instead. So the body is shot but the pans (once spike has it stripped) are fine'ish. So a chassis could be on the market later next week. Once I have the full details of that and other parts and prices, will let you all know.
Gutted, it's another Swanage with no buggy, but lots more events yet, and if the box is sound, I will be a lot happier!!!
Oh PS... Am meeting up and following Mark down in the morning.
Dibs on chassis
Think I should be down around 7.30ish got to load the buggy up and collective girlfriend. Anyone like sloe gin might have to crack out the last bottle
Thanks to everyone for a great weekend good to catch up with you ;-)up ;-)up ;-)up
Thanks to flags for organising it ;-)up ;-)up
Sorry I didn't get to say goodbye but I wanted to get to the ferry before the rush i should have said it before we set out on the carnival .

Thank you to everyone for making me and jilly welcome had a really good time and will defo be back next year what ever the weather. I now have drain holes in the bottom of the buggy after the drive home. To say we got wet was an understatement.should of taken a photo of jilly in emergency poncho and Sat in a bin bag. I should think I had an inch of water in The bottom of the buggy.
Thanks again Andy
oh and now I've got all sorts of ideas of bits I want to do to the buggy
