Hi Timbo, don't quote me on this yet, but typically the Surrey lot meet at wisely (M25/A3 junction) at about 9am then head down the A3. But next week or so (as it gets closer) hunter or Chris B / Emma will confirm I guess. But rest assured, I know we will coordinate with you to meet up on the way down.  ;-)up

Right then, as it stands at the moment.

Leaving Ockham bites cafe (Wisley lakes, A3 slip rd south bound off of J10 M25).

You should be fueled up (car and you, cafe is open from about 08.00) ready to leave there 09.30 sharp for a run down the A3.
We will be stopping about 3mls after the Hindhead tunnel at the large shell garage for a swift pitstop, then onward to Southsea aiming to arrive realistically about 11.00.

How does that sound or do you wanna make it earlier?  ???

H  :)

Meanwhile we have Allyson (one of the organisers of BeachBuggin) just joined us here. Am sure you will understand she is a tad busy getting ready for the show this weekend.

But thanks to a suggestion by Dave B, she is up for doing something to celebrate the 50th anniversary next year. So we will need to get back on the case with ideas for 2014 (not just Beachbuggin but other events around the country)

Same for me Andy, gonna be a last minute decision on whether the buggy makes it.

If I do come down in the bug I will be leaving Dover about 7 and having to go via Winchester to pick up my son, then aiming to get to Southsea about 10:30.

Cheers,

Yep, nice day down there, met Mel B with his lovely light blue Manx.

Had a chat to the owner of a nice lwb orange Jas - is he on here, forgot to ask him?

Was hoping to see Phill's buggy, what happened mate?

And guessing you didn't get the tranny fixed in time Andy?  :(

Cheers,

Paul.

Hi Paul

Funny you should ask

First off buggy battery was flat so waited to charge a bit in the morning, got it started and off I set, got just pass arundel and the heavens open and the buggy started to take on water like a sinking ship.
So made the dessicion then to head home as I was wetter than a otters pocket and the buggy was not running great due to the amount of water on  the engine I guess.
Made it home only to find tranny oil purring out, so the engine is back out again.

Totally gutted that missed this show again :'(

It really did chuck it down, we caught it at Fontwell, but pressed on. Interestingly, although it rain most of the way, we didn't get too wet despite having no roof - my hair and right-hand leg were the only wet bits - and the inside of the screen!

The Manx does have this wonderful design feature which dumps the rain from the windscreen straight into the footwell. Glad we made the effort as it cleared up nicely and pretty much everything dried out.

Enjoyed the show ;-)up, and was parked next to the orange LWB Jas.

See you next year!!

Phill I did wonder where you were, that's a shame but lucky you turned back because of the rain if your gearbox was dumping oil ???
It was a great day and turned out scorchio even after we went into the hindhead tunnel with relatively warm weather to come out the other side to a real downpour :o ::) luckily quickly made it to the services until it cleared up ;-)up :D

What a great day out, a little wet to start with. The field held up well, about 30mins after it rained there was no evidence it rained. Soo many great cars to see, took hours to walk round them all. turned into a hot day, some of us ended up getting a little burnt.

Really liked the colour of this one, First one I've seen with the front opening window.

Gutted for you Phill, if its not one thing its another mate, chin up though it looks great, just need to get it running.  ;-)up

Funny about the rain, we came down the M3 via Winchester and only drove through a few light showers!

Didn't take any pics I'm afraid  :( the blue Beetle pictured above was pretty special, detailing was amazing although I didn't like the paint - the flake was so heavy it made it look like it had really bad orange peel (which it didn't), but beautifully built.

My son's favourite was a metallic lime green T5 which had been chopped and turned into a crewcab with a lovely wood lined bed.

Our joint pick was a bronze mark 3 cortina with a beautifully fitted 289 small block Ford complete with Vortech supercharger blowing through a Holley double pumper - I used to do a bit of American muscle (hence the username) so really appreciated this one. the best thing about it was it was a true sleeper, practically nothing on the outside to show it was packing probs about 300bhp of blown V8!!!

Cheers,

Paul.

It was a good show - the  afternoon the sun came out and in true british fashion i got burnt.
I got to meet Chris and had a chat but the missus got bored quickly so i didnt get to meet the rest of you.

I did get some pics though - i love the metal flake buggies in the sunlight - my pics don't do them justice.

My first pic is a rat razor - I love the faded painted number plate - a cool car

Chris and the purple sidewinder - very nice and i can't wait to see it when the details chris plans for next year

Yep, thats the one Kenny, very clever idea but actaully not that difficult to do I would think with a bit of metal bending.

Cheers,

Paul.

Looking at the van in the back ground it's  been cut off at window hieght and the rear door hinge lowered.

Saw this at the heritage meet the other month, been done to a high standard  ;-)up crazy thing to do to an expensive van unless it was a mess to start of with.

Yes but too much work in the crew cab doors i reckon so it must've been a crew cab flat bed/tipper body with a cut down panel van back end grafted on, best cut n shut I've seen in years... Apart from swb buggies that is ;D

Now you said that I guess a tipper truck modified would be the easier route to go ?
Will ask the owner on Thursday if it turns up again.

There are some lovely touches so simple I notice something else every time I see it, nothing too flash just subtle bits a plain and simple buggy which is immaculate if I didn't know that he drives it regularly to events you would think it was a "trailer queen" ;-)up
