Looking for a new compressor just wondered if anyone had any recommendations or maybe contacts to get one trade price. Am looking for something that will put out at least 16cfm so I can run air tools :)
Speak with Paddy, he got his new one a few weeks back,
Great price for a great piece of kit
16cfm will almost certainly be 3 phase - are you sure?
Hmm maybe not.
Maybe 14cfm for domestic use?
Will have a word with Paddy ;D
We bought a Clarke one SE16 range on a VAT free day a few years ago. SE16C150
It reckons about 14cfm and has been great. Runs off single phase. Start up is quite a knock on the electrics but we changed the
breaker in the garage to a "C" type and it been brilliant.
The prices have gone up quite a bit since we got ours ::)
Hazel, are you sure you really need 16cfm for your air tools?
I have a 160L 15cfm 3hp 230V compressor, runs all my air tools with no issues, the equivalent model is still available for about £400 http://magnumcompressors.co.uk/Industrial%20Compressors/ALUMINIUM%20BELT%20DRIVE%20AIR%20COMPRESSORS?product_id=108 (http://magnumcompressors.co.uk/Industrial%20Compressors/ALUMINIUM%20BELT%20DRIVE%20AIR%20COMPRESSORS?product_id=108), I bought mine about 15 years ago from my local auto factors.
The smaller the receiver, the more the motor will be actively filling it up again, the cfm rating is what the motor can deliver continuously once the receiver has been depleted.
Consider investing in some rubber feet for it as well, to aid in vibration damping, they are not expensive.
Unless you are looking to run a shot/sand blaster for continuous periods, you should not need silly levels of cfm.
As has already been mentioned if you really need 16cfm+, you are looking at 3 phase.
You wont find cheeper.. http://www.justoffbase.co.uk/Tool-Shop/Air-Compressors
