love that exhaust.....dont put a cage on clem, krug has a simlar exhaust and he dosent have a cage and it looks mint as doese yours pal ;-)up
All these flaked buggies look so good. Really temping to get mines done now
Hi Clem whats your set up on the front to get it that low.
And then there were 2 .... the exhaust :)
Having used my one for some time the passanger side loop does colour up faster. Think its because its a bit shorter to the first turn. If you want to keep it bling like my one you also need to keep the 4 into one merge bit clean as its a bugger to clean up when its on. I took my one off and split it all last year to give it a really good clean again ... but I do have OCD when it comes to my bling.
Nice to see someone with good taste :) And on a blue buggy ;D ;D ;D ;D
Oh and as Chris mentioned - a standard Flatlands rear engine cage wont fit. I looked into one and it would have needed quite a bit of modification.
I also have the petronix billet dizzy... they are cool :)
All you need is some nice colour coded push rod tubes now :) I just happen to have them on my buggy ;D ;D ;D ;D
(http://i633.photobucket.com/albums/uu54/Krug1000/HPIM4564-1.jpg)
How sad am I .... clean underneath (well it was last year when I put it away) :)
Should have mentioned ... I got it August 2010 ... great testiment to Mike and his work. Takes a bit of time to keep it looking like I do ... but really worth it
one of my favourite looking exhausts ;-)up, the same sort of design I had in mind
Just looked at your pics... one shows a cage ? Do you have one fitted???

Hi Clem whats your set up on the front to get it that low.
adjustable front beam that was on it welded in low so dose not raise much and ball joints at to much angle? So might raise it and put some drop spindles on to take out the ball joint angles ?

a good idea it will handle better with the dropped spindles but you can get long travel ball joints.

very nice stainless work and exhaust but I can,t do with the massive overhang they create. each to there own . ;)
clem looks the nuts dude top job ;-)up
Very nice you'll have fun keeping that clean , just out of interest what size are the back tyres
Keeping it clean... with OCD thats the point... it is fun to keep it clean ;D ;D ;D ;D
Looking good.....
Just from experience and hard to tell due to the angles of the pics... is the end of the exhaust pointing slightly up? If it is (and my one did at first) I was stunned how good they are at collecting rain and condensation. Kicked all sorts of wet crap out untill I turned it slightly down and its much better now.
I did notice the tailpipe pointing up, it was built to point down slightly

Looks amazing. One of my favourite bugs at the moment :D :D :D :D :D
well ive bought some new taller tyres for the rear and waitng for fronts to come in as buggy was low when i got it but fancy a more traditional look so 275 60's rear and 195 60's front has made a noticeable diffrance to gearing much better on motorway ;-)up

Really nice buggy. I like the custom stainless work. The new tyre sizes are going to give it a nice attitude when you take the neg camber out of the back. It will look just right. Best colour for a buggy too, well my fave colour would be a better way to say it !

The billet clamps on the roll bar you can get from Dans Performance Parts in the states, thats where I got mine from, I bought three different types :D
The ones on the roll bar have mounting holes on the top, but all he has done on them is drilled and tapped the sides.

Just in case anyone fancies doing something like this...
Gas Struts can be got here, specify length and size, ie 6mm and the stroke if possible, they will be also able
to pressurize them to whatever is required...
Struts can be got in either Stainless or Painted steel...
Just tell em who sent you, hopefully they wont throw you out! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Father inlaws Garage, ....find the billet,.... think of how to do them....mark them out,.... cut them out... smooth them off, drill them....warm hands up after freezing in the garage....ask mother inlaw if its ok to come in to her pride and joy house....wash crap off hands and body....get dirty look for messing up her kitchen sink....look smug..
Dans,.... surf to site....order parts...wait for postman :D :D
Cheers peter have been looking the weight of roof wont require much force :-\ and if they do them in the shiny stuff happy days ;-)up ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
I forgot to add two more jobs for Dans.....put feet up watch the telly and have a cuppa and a bacon sarnie

I have been looking at this strut and mounting stuff...
It may be possible, with some nifty mounting angles to get the strut to go over centre just as the roof 'closes', this will
have the effect of transferring the strut pressure to the opposite side of its arc and effectively switch from pushing the roof up
to pushing it closed...!
Helping to 'lock' it down in the process....
Maybe! :) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
The mounts on roof are lower than other end so effectively it does I found this on the samba its a copy idea from his manxter ;-)up
All very clever, I've got a few ideas and some bits from work to tinker with but must admit nothing that complex ;-)up
But then again hopefully I won't need a lifting roof to get in and out of mine like you big fella ;-)up ;D
you might need to raise the roll bar and windscreen...so forget the struts....much cheaper option
(http://i603.photobucket.com/albums/tt115/negativepitch/giant_in_small_car_01.jpg)
Im off back to the naughty step....
QuoteCheers peter have been looking the weight of roof wont require much force :-\ and if they do them in the shiny stuff happy days ;-)up
I just remembered some stuff.... As I used to be the works production Technician there ;D
They used to do 'RV's'.... These are still in use so its worth specifying if you needed...
The RV is a small valve fitted to the 'Heel' end, the springs can be 'over gassed' to a higher pressure and
you can release this pressure when fitted to achieve the exact lifting force you need...
Don't over do it though ::) ;D ;D
Also...., they do 'locker's'... ie, these will stop at the point you stop the roof lift, whereupon, a quick pull down will start the lift process again
so you can in effect open the roof and stop it at any point in its lifting arc...
Peter :)
