Good Afternoon ladies and gents, I can confirm that Swanage Carnival weekend is sorted, recently spoken to the carnival organisers, and today spoke to the football club, and everyone is happy to have us back.
The dates are 24th -28th July, and the carnival is on the 27th, this year's theme is Cirque du Swanage (Circus acts).
Plans for the weekend are as normal arrivals after 14:00 on the Thursday, chill day Friday with a quiz in the evening, this year organised by Matt, Sat cruise out, bbq early evening followed by a disco ( Jazzy & Snowy will hopefully be back this year. Sunday, chill morning then the carnival, finally for those staying till Monday leave the site midday ish.
If anyone has any ideas for the cruise, places to visit, events that we might be able to attend let me know.

@Mark. re cruise, it might be quite cool to head over to Weymouth and then to Portland and park up somewhere right by the sea for a few minutes. not sure if its possible or not but just a thought (as you asked!) - something a bit different and I know some that arrive on the Thursday, tootle over on the friday in the past.
Hi Gav, I'll take any suggestion, and look into it, thank you, I know the midlands crew have been to Portland, maybe if any of them that gave can let me know what they thought.
Gav we have parked up a couple of times at Bowleaze after doing a few loops of Weymouth which always seems rather crowded. Portland is a great favorite of mine and has fewer people. Last year we went to the Jail House Cafe although simply driving to, up onto it and back takes in some great views. It's Pay & Display by Portland Bill and there are a couple of buggyists on Portland who came out to see us last time.
Chesil Beach is another area you can park up for at a cost.

Cheers Hugh, I'm certainly considering a trip to Portland as its somewhere most of us haven't been too.
Portland is just one of those places I haven't been to yet I've seen photos and just like yours looks ace. agree Weymouth can be busy and a nightmare. Maybe Mark do a circuit that allows for some of the regular bits, but then has a choice. Portland or Bust!
I can just see a long line of buggies with that backdrop of the coast. that would be aswesome, and if you think about it, we don't get buggies and see pictures.... Even at Beer, the pictures you get are mainly of us convoying on the roads, and then parked up at the Beer carpark, but you don't quite get the closeness to the coast!
anyway, just a though and ideas!

I have just confirmed Camping fees for this year, they will be the same as last year £7.50/Adult/night and £5.00/Child/night.I have also confirmed we will be having a quiz on Friday in the bar, and a bbq social on Sat Night in the bar area, so can you please make use of the bar, I have also asked about breakfast on Sunday, this is to be confirmed.
One other thing I've been asked is if anyone staying at another location can you not use the football club as storage for non buggy cars and trailers, otherwise a fee will be asked for.

Just a thought? We are hoping to travel down wednesday and were planning to stay overnight about 60-80 miles from Swanage. At the moment we are struggling to find anywhere. Any chance of staying on the carpark? Happy to pay for the extra night. Its a motorhome. Just asking. will keep looking for somewhere. Thanks.

Another update, Flags & Karen will be staying overnight on Sat, he has offered to bring along a pizza oven and he is willing to burn anyone's pizza if you bring it along, also we will be resurrection the Show & Shine for Sunday morning, sponsored by Buggy Builders, so make sure you bring some polish.Sue and I will be making our way down via Devon, and Bridport starting out on Friday 18th, hopefully I will keep an eye on the forum, see you all soon.

is there a timetable for the weekends cruises etc
it is our first visit to Swanage and are camping just down the road from the football club

Basically Friday will be a chill day, with the possibility of a boat trip for those interested, followed by a music quiz in the bar from approx 19:30, Sat cruise will be approx 10:30 leaving the football club, Sunday Show & Shine Noon, get ready to leave for the carnival approx 13:30. The times for the carnival will be confirmed nearer the time.

Hunter is seeing what's available from the pier, hopefully we will have more info by the end of this week.
I also forgot the mention the bbq and social outside the bar on the Sat evening.
Swanage Carnival Boat Cruise
Hiya everyone,
Popped over to Swanage and got the option from "Coastal Cruises".
We could join the cruise at Swanage about 11.30 go to Poole then return to Swanage leaving Poole at 3.30. The trips last an hour each way. There will be live commentary giving information during the cruises, there is a fully licensed bar on board and for an extra £2 you are able to take your doggy with you.
The cost for the cruise is only £20.

Another update, I have spoken to Andy at the football club and he has decided not do breakfasts on Sunday as he is having trouble getting volunteers, also for those arriving Thursday afternoon be aware there is a kids club using the bar and football pitch, so can we use the side entrance to get to the facilities, the kids will use tge main entrance. If there was an option to do this a bit later, say, 2:30, we would be in. We're coming down on Friday morning but won't get there in time to get a boat at 11:30... Maybe the word "Cruise" is a bit misleading, its more like a Poole Ferry - If its the one I think it is, then it takes you to Poole in the morning, drops you in town for a couple of hours and then picks you up in the afternoon and returns you back home to Swanage.

For the Quiz on Friday night, we have a buzzer round. I have 8 buzzers but depending on numbers, that might not be enough.

A bit more info about the Friday Boat Cruise.
Gave them a call this afternoon to let them know about the interest and how many could be attending the cruise, they said that if there's more than 20 people signing in there will be a discount on all that are going. 8)
Just a quick update on the catering that Karen was volunteered to do.
The Pizza oven will be burning your finest Italian flat breads on Saturday evening for those that don't want to do a BBQ. So if you want to pick them up on the cruise they need to be under 14" and not frozen. It only takes a couple of minutes for each.
Breakfast baps on Sunday will be served from around 9am and will be £2 for 1 filling or £2.50 for 2, let me know before the cruise if you want in, all profit going to the football club. Fetch your own brews but I'm going to see if I can get the Burco boiler on.

I've made it to within about 15 miles of Swanage thus far and have developed a fuel/spark problem - misfiring like hell :-[
Currently awaiting a breakdown service who will hopefully get me back on the road...

We are Coming down for the day..In are high top T4 .. How bad? is parking around Swanage...
Swanage is busy and with intermittent road closures parking is limited the car park at the football end has a steady thrnover but the club car park is full of buggy campervans
Made it home, despite the m25 trying to lengthen the trip, thanks to everyone for making the weekend a pleasure to arrange, hope you have all made it home without incident and we look forward to seeing you again.
