Hi All. I'm just in the throes of booking a club stand for the East Midlands Buggy Club (yep, it's a first!). A small local one day show but last year had over 1000 vehicles. Anybody local (or not local) up for this?
http://classicwheelsrutland.co.uk/
Some teasing photographs on the site of shiny vehicles in really sunny conditions - and the 'Sound Injectors' look like fun females.
121.8 miles from my fromnt door so I'll ponder this one.
Let us know the arrival and display times & rules when you have them.

Will do Hugh. It's always sunny in Rutland :)
It's only about 20 miles from me so I thought I should venture out for this one. Was hoping to get about 10 buggies on our club stand - trying to rejuvenate East Midlands Buggy Club - but more would be great. I've booked for 10 but will increase it if need be.
I think the show opens at 10am and runs till 4pm. That's all I know at the moment.
I went last year its a good show with a lot of different of cars
(https://i.postimg.cc/SKV0TQtX/Oakham-2022.jpg) (https://postimages.org/)
Red, yellow, yellow, purple. Now that's my idea of a lot of difference - I'd fit right in !
Now I know the forecast is sunny I'm looking forward to the booking and arrival details.

Excellent. Will you join us on the club stand this year Chris? You're very local aren't you?
Put me down as a maybe Mark, you can't have too many yellow Doons

It'll be good to catch up :)
I've already requested a bigger stand as this seems to be quite a popular shout. Just a day trip with a picnic :)

I have booked my Pole Position Parking this morning for this event and got my ticket.
The ticket gets one registered display car into the show area with 2 peoples at the price of £10.00
There are no vehicle movements during the show opening hours 10:00 - 16:00hrs
Display cars are asked to arrive between 08:30 - 10:00hrs
Last year it took us nearly an hour to do the last 2 miles on the Oakham bypass to the showground
Hopefully the traffic management will be better this year :)
Chris
I spoke to Lisa at Live Promotions, who are organising it, and we've hot a spot that can take up to 30 buggies. Cost will be £5 per buggy including 2 people. It looks like I might need to collect fivers and pay in a lump.

OK it's time to cough up those fivers. A buggy plus two bods is a fiver, I suggest if you other passengers to get a single person buggy to take them in. I'm solo for the day and happy to take one person. Please DM me once you've sent £5 to my PayPal markbdarby@gmail.com to confirm (full name and forum name if applicable please).
Paid Mark, will PM as well

Hi Chris
There are various meeting points I think but everyone will be there by 10. You'll need to tell them that you want to join the EMBC club stand as opposed to Pole Position Parking when you get there. Organisers are aware.
Final list for those who've paid their fivers:
Mark Darby
Jim Rowley
Lawson Cooper
Doug Gadsby
Simon Ward
Matthew Ward
Kirsty & Chloe Ward
Jamie White
Paul Rooke
Dave Rooke
Andy Smith

Nick Whiles
Passes will be out to you in the next couple of days.
Looking forward to seeing everyone :)
All done for the Rutland show! Passes have all been paid for and you'll be receiving an email from the organisers with your pass (8 coming to you Simon) in the next couple of hours, so please keep an eye out and check your spam too. 25 Buggies on the list + Chris Jordan (you need to tell them on the gate that your included in the East Midlands Buggy Club stand). Apparently you fill in your reg number yourself. And the stand will be full 🙂
We're on pitch 4 just by the Vintage Trucks as you come in. Please get there between 8:30 and 10 am, before it's open to the public or you won't be able to get in. Apparently the traffic was terrible last year so please plan to get there early to avoid disappointment.
There is food available to buy at the show but a few have said they're bringing a picnic, me included. I'll bring a bit extra - I remember my first event when I forgot food and everyone gave me a bit of theirs. Buggy people are great.
Really looking forward to seeing everyone on the day.

And great weather for the attendees, well done on best club stand award.
Some nice straight line ups there. Someone managed to herd the buggy owners into order.
Is that red buggy (third photo with big Kelly front tyres) the one Allan saw in his lorry mirror at Melton Mowbray ?
The display area Mark booked was just big enough to get all the 24 buggy on, it was great to put some names to faces.

My experience of buggy owners is they can act like semi deaf mavericks who are inclined to park their buggys as if normal rules do not apply, especially if being directed. 'Hoi polloi' surprisingly comes to mind but whilst the neat level lines may have been all their own work yet I favour the theory it was simply a very hot day and the only way to squeeze into the club stand was to park cheek by jowl.
