Title: Swanage 2021? Now cancelled until 2022 unless Flags has a buggy meet only

A quick update on Swanage weekend Thu 29th Jul to Mon 2nd Aug.
So far the Carnival is planned to go ahead with a confirmation in late spring.
The football club has been closed for the best part of a year and needs to be recommissioned before it can be used and as we know it was already a little on the rough and ready side of 5* but Mark (the club house manager) reckons it should be done.
So as with every other event scheduled for 2021 this is provisional.
If you're interested we may as well start a list.

Most will have already seen that the carnival is cancelled; I'm speaking to the football club tomorrow to see if we can still use the site for those that still want to do a seaside get together.

Well that's another pile of the body's solid waste matter, composed of undigested food, bacteria, water, and bile pigments discharged from the bowel through the anus due to CORONA.

The football club are going to use the Swanage Carnival cancellation to get some much needed work and storm damage repairs done to the clubhouse so sorry but NO we can't even just have a meet and chill for the weekend.

If anyone fancies trying to sort out a camp site around the same time/area please feel free.

Plenty of time before carnival weekend in the closed season to get work done as the league starts Aug 6th the chance of making around £500 should interest them.
Camp site wise looking before quite a few are going static and glamping so not accepting tourers and campers.

They are taking advantage of the labour that would have been allocated to other Carnival tasks. Believe me I've been there and tried but if they want it done for the new season then that's the time that power has to be cut off to do flood lights etc.

Well I've tried and due to COVID it's a firm no. All the local campsites are either already full or can't/won't take our 'family' group. I've tried village halls, scout huts and local contacts for things like farmers fields.

So there is a gap if anyone can step up and organise something¿

Well we know that the carnival as such is not happening, but I know that there are still quit a few of you coming down for the weekend as you've managed to get space in some B&Bs.
As some of you guys and gals came along last year and we had a BBQ at our place on the Saturday afternoon, we're wandering if you would like to do that again this year? If so please respond on here or a PM, just get in touch so we can sort things out as best we can. ;-)up

That was without doubt, the best afternoon we have had in years  ;-)up

Its has been 2 years since we have seen any of you, and this afternoon, it was great breaking curfew and catching up with old friends.

Thank you to Carole and Hunter for such great hospitality and thank you to everyone there who made us feel so welcome.

So good to meet our extended family once more.

A big thank you to Mini Mouse and Hunter for the invitation and bbq was nice to meet up with more of the buggy crew. No photos though as we have Vanessa and Hugh on side.

It was really good to actually catchup with you all in person.

Sounds like many enjoyed themselves and I'm very glad to be able to have this get-together.

It's great to see all the pictures and that just highlights how nice it is.

We've found a coat here so if one of you guys have left it does that mean your gonna want to have another BBBBQ next year so's you can collect it, just like the john lennon sun glasses that were left here last year.

Before leaving Swanage today, someone noticed Hugh had a tiny, delicate amount of overspray on his buggy....... Hardly noticeable  ;D This had to be rectified before we let him travel with us  ;D

Yes there is a lot of envious interest shown in my buggy by certain ne'er-do-wells. But thanks to Dave M for generous use of his Jumbo marker which added some finishing touches to recent cosmetic work on the MantaRay.

Somewhat sad seeing full sized aircraft that look in OK condition standing around in their knackers yard with the odd missing engine or with cranes picking bits other bits off...

But its dramatic, and perhaps little different to seeing a buggy parked up in someone's garden awaiting repairs with the sense that the buggys future could go one of two ways - slow decay or eventual rebirth...
