See if this link works.
It's the story of Ben Ws conversion to Covair power.
Not heard from Ben for a long time. Farmer Rob, also on here did some work with Ben.
Hope this helps.

Talk about coincidence... Dropped my very poorly engine off at the re-builders last week. Just about to leave his premises and my jaw dropped. Corvair on back of transporter. It had been brought to him because of engine troubles. I am a long term fan of the corvair ever since it first appeared as the MK1 version. (Yes it was involved in road deaths to drivers but that is simply not driving the vehicle as you should... and then along came a young man called ralph nader and that`s all I will say about that numbskull).
Engine....my opinion only but an iconic air cooled 6 cylinder motor. No these old timers wil lnot give you many mpg but Beetles didn`t give you much more, or at least none of the thirteen I owned did. Lot of weight to hang off your buggy back end so not ideal ;D ;D
anyone else running a corvair engine on here or know of any for sale running or not
These cars\engines are available... Standard covair flat six doesn`t have as much hp as you may expect. They uprated with the "corvair spyder" by adding a turbocharger. This gave 150 bhp. However this is fairly ancient tech so no waste gate and no electronics for control so it was put your foot down, wait for it to wind up and hang on to the steering wheel.. Coming out of a corner with foot to the metal... well ;D ;D ;D
looking for the 140bhp motor 4 carb motor
ask on facebook group/pages (beach buggy and beach buggy info) i nearly bought Ben's engine earlier this year, not sure if its still up for grabs though as the chap is building another buggy but cant hurt to do a shout, ive seen at least 2 others for sale on fb in the last few months.
Rich.
Lot of weight in the arse compared to a sorted type 1/4.
Just saying🤷🏻♂️
