Title: Wheel cylinders
Post by: Gary on April 25, 2019, 09:43:31 PM
Hi All

Are the front and rear wheel brake cylinders on an early wide five drum the same or different 1953 to 1957. I think (oval) 30 mm wide shoes

I have got a siezed rear but a spare front, interchangeable or not

Thanks

Gary

Hi Gary, fronts are larger bore but should swap size wise, the imbalance will not be as noticeable as on the front but you could fit a pair to up rear braking efficiency.  Hugh had a 17mm and a 19mm on the rear unknown until we repaired a leaky cylinder on one side and replaced the pair.

Thanks Keith

I will get the drum off first and see what the issue is, the main point is the un availability of parts not necessarility the cost

We have stonleigh and ragley and 3 Wheel braking at present

guess you could fit later back plates if they fit but you have the oil drain tubes not holes in the castings, not touched a split case transmission since the 70's
