Due to the success of last years party venue and the feedback, we've decided to book the same place again (The Regency Hotel, Stratford Road, Shirley, Solihull, B90 4EB ). I know this seems early however we are looking at booking a large group again and people have already been asking. We need to know numbers to book and pay a £10 deposit per person a couple of weeks after booking. The hotel are not offering a deal with the accommodation however after speaking to Emily she has agreed a discounted price on the room and tribute night package.
This event is open to everyone and the date will be Saturday 1st December and The Tribute will be a soul and Motown act. The price of the night will include a 3 course meal. If you would like the room and tribute night deal that will also include use of the hotel facilities and breakfast. The prices have gone up slightly from last year but it's still a big saving on the room and tribute night deal (the normal cost of a standard double room is £140 per night).

Tribute Night only £33.95 + £10 deposit per person
Single occupancy room and Tribute Night £102.95 + £10 deposit per person
Double occupancy room and Tribute night £146.90 + £10 deposit per person

Any more takers for a good night out it needs booking well in advance as rooms fill up if you want to have a drink and cannot drive home. The place was full to capacity last year so leave it to long you may miss out as the other parties were company staff groups.
Me, Kaz,Dai and Donna had a great time last year I even enjoyed the -25 plunge pool.
But Kaz may have to cover that weekend and work is rota is not done until early Oct..
May just book and have to forfeit the deposit if we can't make it or look for somewhere to put the motor homes for the night.
Yes we had a real presence in the room last year and a great night followed by a sociable breakfast. Not to be missed if you can possibly male the trip.

tried this last year but work commitments got in the way.
a flight is'nt realy expensive, so can fly in on thursday /friday and leave on monday morning as weekend departures are more expensive.
so the question is can i crash on a coutch somwere? as 3 hotel nights is a bit mutch for a silly plan like this.
There is no long distance prize for the party ;) we have space as you know but we are staying over on the Saturday night, if you cannot find anyone closer we can manage friday and sunday nights.

Hi All, I'll be picking Ruben up from the airport on the Saturday morning and my thoughts were to go for breakfast at the Toby cavery pub at Stonebridge and then weather dependent go across to Wellsborne market and grab a few early Christmas bargains ;D before going to the hotel.Plan B, if it's bad weather would be after breakfast run into Birmingham city centre instead. Anybody going to the Christmas party and wants to make more of a day of it are most welcome to join us ;-)up

Hi everybody, I've been in touch with the hotel today and we're all up to date (everybody has paid). Check in time is from 3.00pm (it's a 12pm check out time) but you can obviously arrive earlier and use the bar, swimming pool and gym facilities. Just a reminder for those that haven't been before, it is a smart dress code. Meet in the bar from 6.30pm on wards, doors open to the room at 7.00pm and food is served from 7.30pm, see you all there :D

My wash over revealed a front side light cover had broken - perhaps some Birmingham oik kicked it last night in the car park - so if any of the MBC has a spare clear plastic dome they've never thrown away and it no longer fits the type of lights they have then I'd be delighted to buy it. The diameter is about 7cm. The electrics although wet are still working so I'm happy to buy just the dome or the whole unit. Else I'll splash out of a new one myself.

Agreed, that's what I thought when I saw it. We had 110s at work to tow our boats around and generally muck about off road.

Dave DND that's immensely helpful. I could only find wrong diameter Lucas clear lens on ebay. VW Heritage have the complete unit for £26 which I'm too Scrooge to splash out on straight away. I've asked the Land Rover lens seller which lens is 70mm dia.
Dave Doon - the strength of the MBC is partly that we don't seem to have a tight definition of what area it encompasses unlike folk who live in 'the Black Country' ! Also we seem to accept anyone so I think you'll find you're in the MBC if you simply turn up to an event or gathering, or perhaps just appear in this area in a buggy. Hope your move comes together and your buggy gets safely transported..

Yes if it has rattles, runs rough, has a few parts drop off or suffers total engine failure then it's eligible to be classed as a buggy.
