Title: Location of ignition coil behind fan housing.
Post by: Turkey100 on March 06, 2018, 02:45:46 PM
I am about to tidy my engine up and replace the old tin with new chrome tin, I also want to make the engine look clean and want to relocate my ignition coil out of sight, where is it best to mount the coil behind the fan housing and how? I have an east coast Manx body.

Anywhere out of the airflow and where you can still get to it for trouble shooting/maint.

Use a standard coil mount with 2 m8 Rivnuts.

I second that about ease of access.

After sitting on the side of the M5 trying to get to my failed coil as it was fixed high up on the bulkhead I realised I should have put it somewhere more accessible.

I have since relocated it back to the stock location as I wasn't going trough that scary scenario again.

Thanks guys for your comments, is it best to put on the rear bulkhead then rather than on the back of the fan housing, just wondering where everyone else mounts them.

Putting it on the bulkhead is to be avoided as the engine rocking from side to side whilst the coil is stationary may cause fatigue in the HT lead
