Hello -
Currently I have this and its too large, (13 inch)
Would like something I can swap to, maybe 11 or 12 inch.
Not sure if I need an adapter plate as well.
What you got or any good suppliers to look out for. Thanks very much

I have a 10 inch on my one and love it. As long as the boss and wheel match it's dead easy ....Mountney boss for VW will match 99% of their steering wheels and loads on eBay. I got my one on eBay for a nice £10 but that was a few years ago
What is your existing wheel?

should just be a wheel swap, keep the boss
just a case of unscrewing the 8 screws you can see in the pic
Thanks all.. It's off to ebay I go...

I have a 10 or so inch version of the same as that sitting in the garage....
What am I offered... ?
Despite what the horn push says that is NOT a Mountney wheel. Mountneys have six bolts, that has nine so more likely a Motalita or LeCarra wheel. It may have been fitted to a Mountney boss that's been drilled for extra holes but so check what holes are in the boss before you expect a straight swap.

Maybe a but too small if 10.. Let me find out about the steering boss and then I can decide way I need.
Do you have any pictures. Thanks
The wheel measures 11 inches overall external diameter, I can put up a pic or 2 later on this evening,
I also have a boss somewhere for it and horn push.. This IS a genuine mountney...

Agreed! I was about to say the same as my Mountney has 6 screws.
Pics as promised....

Thanks for the reply. I can see now mine isn't like that..
I think I will pass thanks, been looking at some online today and quite like the look of the d style. Means I can go a little bigger and still get some leg room.
I really appreciate you getting back to me though.

Just wanted to follow up on this thread as have now got a RAID steering wheel which looks quite nice but I dont get it till next week. Just trying to track down a boss and horn push for it or whether mine might fit as is... anyone have any thoughts on this?

Ebay, though also seen it on gumtree too. Thoughts?
Well it looks like it could be the standard boss for Momo etc. But not 100%. I like it though
I hoping thats the case!
got my eye out for something like this as well - but not at that price!

Cheers
you can get a multi fit boss, I have used one of these
ebay link to steering boss (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Traditional-Steering-Wheel-Boss-Kit-MB055-Mountney-Volkswagen-Beetle/181775989872?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649)

That one will only fit Mountney/Asrali and Motalita wheels, it won't work for that one.
So I checked the buggy today and it appears I have a 24 spline steering column and the steering wheel is a 6x74 pcd type... Off to ebay I go for a boss kit.
;-)up ;-)up
hmmm - Would this be suitable?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/steering-wheel-boss-hub-kit-Classic-BEETLE-T1-PRE-72-LARGE-spline-bug-classic-/352092592124?epid=592277616&hash=item51fa5a97fc:m:mSvrf8jgImTySl09K5_Tjew (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/steering-wheel-boss-hub-kit-Classic-BEETLE-T1-PRE-72-LARGE-spline-bug-classic-/352092592124?epid=592277616&hash=item51fa5a97fc:m:mSvrf8jgImTySl09K5_Tjew)
So it turns out the steering column is 23mm wide.. and after speaking with the suppliers it was reccomended that the
Mountney MB055 series should fit...
heres the column
