Just thought I'd ask on the off chance someone has what I need...

I need a set of 2 suspension units, that can take 15inch wheels.

Oh and also 2 15inch wheels  :)

for a trailer?
if so 15 inch wheels are available with different PCD fitting so possibly available for any triler unit or do you want to use beetle 4 or 5 stud.

How did you guess  :P yes for a trailer...

Not sure what I want really (no surprises there then) just thought I would ask here first, if there's some wheels kicking around somewhere that someone wants to kick out of their garage to make space  ;)

Hazel,

Last time I needed a trailer, I bought a scrap caravan and chopped the top off (well, it fell off, it was that knackered) But underneath, they often have fairly good chassis and sometimes brakes too.

Search locally, or if prepared to travel, there are places down here that simply cannot give them away once they are past their best. There was a company on Ebay based in cornwall, selling stripped out caravans for a quid each, just to get rid of them. They buy them for their fittings and scrap the rest.

but they do make bloody good trailers with very little modification  ;-)up

Also a plus with buying a caravan is you can weigh all the old ally caravan shell in and it gets you some good money back. Pays for the makings of a decent trailer. As ive done before.  :)

What size trailer are you after Hazel? what are you hoping to move on it?

(for instance, I think a car requires a 4 wheel trailer nowadays  :-\ )

Also as a side note you all know that you may need to take a test and update your driving licence for trailer towing. The basic guide is if you had to take a theory test for your driving test then you aren't automatically covered for trailers and caravans (and I assume A-frames???). But for us old farts should be already on there.

Its something the boys in blue are quite hot on!

I would have thought if you start to take a caravan apart it would just fall apart anyway! If you know what I mean...  :-\
Think Dad tried to make a trailer from one once but it just worked out to be more effort than fabricating something himself.

Yes, you oldies get everything on your license! Little young me can old tow smaller trailers with weight restrictions though (no more than 750kg I think). I haven't seen anything written anywhere about the amount of wheels though?  ???
