Hi,

I lighted up my steering column with my steering box against the bod yesterday and it looks really long but i can't tell until i get the dash etc on.
The problem is, i can't put the bonnet and dash on with the column in place unless i cut it which leaves me in a conundrum.

Any of you got pictures of your buggy without a shortened column compared to with?

Thanks

Jimmy

You will be able to cut the hole in the tub for the column to pass hrough then you can loose fit the bonnet and seat to try out the column length as it will then slip under the dash down through the tub..

Hmm, I get that principal, but i will post pictures later to show you what i mean. Maybe i have my column at the wrong angle as the dash definitely would with the column as is. My seats are adjustable so i can just sit them in there for the time being until i get the frames made for them to mount to. They are MX5 seats so one of the mounts doesn't quite reach a suitable place on the floor.

Pictures later tonight.

Mx5 seats will be the rear mount holes sit above the seat drop pan, I welded a metal strip across the drop then bolted the seats to that or you could bolt a bar across for the seat to go onto. The front mountings usually need a short spacer under them.

Yep, that's exactly it.
My problem is that i can't weld so i need a bolt on solution.

Simples a bolt either end of the steel bar with penny washers under the pan or a plate to spread the load then bolt the seat to it.
