Hi
I have just rubbed down the paint work before spraying, so question is should I clean with solvent or just use soap and water before undercoat.

You can clean off with rags and dust off with the compressor then do the undercoat prep after the first under coats then use dust wipes from the paint shop the get all the finger marks off as you dont want any oils in the paint  ;-)up ;-)up

Don't use soap and water if you have bare filler the water will soak into the filler and come back to haunt you later.
make it if you can.

I have always used panel wipe a tyype of cheap quick drying solvent the cleans the surface and leaves no residue.

Panel wipe. I have used thinners in the past and ended up with fish eyes.  :-[ so panel wipe.
I always use tack cloths after wiping down too. Also wear latex or nitrile gloves as oil from your hands can cause issues.

Yes agree, panel wipe then tack rag( use once only) thinners too harsh and could soften feathered edges under the primer and cause a crinkle or sinkage. Good luck, you are nearly at the fun part of shooting the colour coats  :D...... And then realising how important the prep is  :'(!! Good luck , I'm sure it will be fine, great feeling to have done it all yourself.
