As we all know the world is a muddle of metric and imperial

We buy our fuel in liters, yet we are all of an age where we remember the price of a gallon

We haven`t gone completely metric yet, as we all drive in miles and not kilometers.

We all know what the phrase MPG (Miles Per Gallon) means, but with so many variables, its a nightmare to work it out.


Here`s another one of my little calculators for you to download and play with (and you can work out the fuel costs of a trip too)

Open it up with Microsoft Excel and "ENABLE EDITING" - You will then be able to play around

This is nice and easy to use, and strong colours. Mind you learning how inefficient with fuel the buggy is isn't going to alter my desire to use it...

Did make me wonder whether you could do another version where you entered 'time spent on the buggy getting/keeping it going', 'money expended on parts/shiney bits and fuel' and 'miles travelled' and the calculator gave you a more frightening figure of how much time and money per mile you were really using !

I only did this to prove that my recent Gearbox and Dellorto purchase were going to make my Buggy far more fuel efficient

Hunter excellent valid concerns which makes me think Dave could create a special version of the spreadsheet calculator which was doctored by it actually diving the calculated time and costs by a factor of ten, say, before displaying the artificially low result. Then leave this for third parties to find and be impressed by....

Dave and the answers to your possible new fule efficiency were ?

I`m hoping to be around the 30 mark with the current setup and my style of driving 

Dave, if you adjust your throttle to give you a maximum of half throttle, I'm sure 30mpg would be possible but with a pair of twin choke dellorto's, will you be able to control your right foot

WHAAAAT    I think you must have hole in your fuel tank   

I really hope that someone on the IBW trip has a really small tank, because if you're all getting 30mpg your going to to stopping for me a lot!!

fuel efficient the new engine is not...

now if we have to get to anywhere quickly....as long as its not far..

Dave you could be the first on this site by showing us how you have fitted cycle pedals to your buggy as a dual back up and fuel saving device !

Then 30mpg is surely attainable.
