Hi all , just a quick hello from Nottingham  , I'm currently building a Manx from a stripped bare shortened chassis supplied from east coast buggies , they also supplied me all old parts to make a rolling chassis, front beam gearbox etc (but no nuts and bolts ! Lol ) ,these had to be striped cleaned and painted . I have cut and welded in new sway away adjusters to beam and painted etc .fitted new fuel line and brake pipes routed through centre tunnel and this weekend got it back on some old wheels .i have ordered body and i am now at stage of deciding on wheels and what size screen height to go fo 14" or 16" etc ? Any input would be much appreciated or any wheels for sale I was thinking 6x15 front 8 or 8.5x15 rears  ?? Thanks Simon

Hi Simon and welcome to the site! :D :D

Sounds like a great build in progress! Dont forget lots and lots of photos, we like photos!!!!
Since you are building from scratch, why not do it to IVA regs so you are covered just in case for the future ;)

Oh and 14" or 16" size screens are for wimps!

Only messing!  ;-)up Its all personal choice and the look of the buggy but if you are likely to get a roof one day (recommended) then make sure the screen is the correct way round and the height works for one.  ;-)up

Hi & welcome to the forum, nice to hear of someone else in the Nottingham area, I'm in Long Eaton. I prefer the 14" screen but like Andy says, its all down to personal preference
Have fun. Be lucky

Hi buddy,

You won't necessarily get a Q, but may get age related or even keep the original depending on how much of the original you can prove you have used (so suggest you make sure the engine and chassis numbers match the V5 prior to going through the IVA).

Carl at the Midland Buggy Club (midlandbuggyclub.co.uk) went through IVA last year but can't remember what reg he got. Unfortunately he is not on here but I will call him tomorrow if I remember.

And by the way, welcome to the site.

Welcome. You sound like a man on a known mission but should you start to lose momentum the members on here will have clever and/or humourous solutions to every challenge.

Look forward to seeing you at the Midland Buggy Club first Thursday of the month gatherings.

Hi again  ;-)up

Sorry what I meant was build it to IVA requirements..... of course whether you actually test it or not is entirely up to you  ;) but at least if ever at a later date you need to, at least you are ready. ;)

Hi mate, welcome aboard ;-)up

I have built a Manx with an East Coast body and I went for a 14" screen from Flatlands Engineering as I thought it looked better than the 16"! It gives a bit more of a raked look if you are going to fit a hardtop!
