Hi, just realised that the Cbs wiring module has relays for indicators , hazards and horn. It doesn't make any reference to relays for headlamps . The live feed for the lights comes from terminal 14 and feeds the live on the light switch. Anyone suggest which relays and how many do I need, do I need ones for the rear lights too ? Sorry to keep asking !!! Thanks.

You need a vw headlamp relay but they will not fit into the cbs holders. On a buggy the only relays you need are headlamp and one for the horn should you fit airhorns or high current useage ones.

As you are using a standard beetle indicator stalk and headlight switch you will need to use a standard 5 pin VW beetle headlamp relay.

Therefore I have modified the previous diagram so it should work with your CBS unit.

IMPORTANTLY you should make sure all light feeds are fused (I have shown this through a standard fuseboard) but i don't know how your unit works.

 Thank you both. So this is the relay I already have that makes the headlamp flash on the stalk work too ? a dni 0127, with five terminals, 56, 56a, 56b,s, and 30 . The Cubs module doesn't seem to give any provision to fuse side / head , left or right lamps separately, only a fused live feed , (14 on module) to light switch.and number 4 to brake lights via brake light switch,.

Not looked at a cbs module but vw did seperate fusesfor, left side tail, right side tail then one for easch headlamp beam so any failure still means you have one light working rather than the wholecircuit going off so a safety thing.

That's how I understood things too, have we established that I have the headlamp relay and don't need any more?  I can take headlights through other fuses in the cbs module I presume  ? As long as I follow instructions and take the live light feed to the main light switch first ?

thank you, ai have a horn relay in the module as I have a basic fiaam air horn fitted.just need to be clear if I have the relay you are talking about already,, it is the same one that allows the stalk to flash the headlights is it ?

The head lamp relay allows the high beam flash function to work from the permanent live feed to it, the dip and main work from the feed from the headlamp switch which powers the latch in the relay so they stay on when selected not just flash as it does with the light switch feed off.
